So straight to the point, Nintendo of America just filed DMCAs on my Gumroad and I have removed all these items from the site as the result otherwise my account will be suspended.

This actually happened to my Twitter too recently. A lot of my tweets containing Nintendo fanarts got taken down in the past few months. I filed all counter-notice back but they seem to affect nothing.

What's done is done I guess. I won't linger on it (but how they have an audacity to DMCA Bowsette and Booette, the fanmade characters, is beyond me)

But the problems still lie with us and how would we deal with this situation from now on.

What will happen to the removed items on Gumroad?

I definitely will find a way to at least upload the images of each items as archive, so the trading compensation system still work for you guys that own any pledge in stock. This is the first priority, since the removed packages also contain non-Nintendo contents that got lost with them.

I can't guarantee an alternative to Gumroad to sell those removed packages, at least not right away, but I will try. If you have a suggestion on such platform, please let me know in the comment.

What does this mean for the promised-but-delayed Nintendo characters that won the polls?

I totally do not want to abandon them. They are promised contents. Even if I can't sell them on other platform, I would like to continue drawing them for promised Patreon rewards. Because promise is a promise. Abandoning them should be the last resort.

Of course this goes to the trading compensation system as well.

What does this mean to the future poll characters?

I'm afraid to tell you this just means no Nintendo characters on the poll. At least not any time soon. It sucks, but it is what it is. This is not the fault of Gumroad nor Twitter nor Patreon. It's what Nintendo of America's legal department decided on.

I also would like to keep this issue as civil and low exposure as possible. It's no big deal. All the bigger artists have faced this problem at some point. We just need to adapt to it.

I am so sorry for patrons who have been supporting me to see Nintendo characters. I still have a 2 years catch-up game to do from my delay though. May be by that time this whole thing will change?

Thank you for you guys' support. It's really what keeps me going still, though it's been such a big art block recently and this certainly doesn't help especially during this hard time from the global pandemic.

Cheers.

I suggest to make "original" characters that "cosplay" Nintendo characters to full-fill what you have to, and use MediaFire / MegaNz / DropBox to host the files instead of Gumroad.

I’ve never understood Nintendo’s obsession with murdering artist who draw there stuff. Even non-h artist get attacked by them. I get that sometimes it’s just salty people on Twitter/other platforms making fake claims but obviously Nintendo actually pulls this shit too.

It was supposed to be terrible ... Isn't it better to see the history of Nintendo content only for a while or only in an area where only supporters can check it?

I hate this situation...
