Ancient Dungeon - Ziggurat (Patreon)

"Each step up the staircase was even more laborious than the last. No one had prevented our entrance to the Ziggurat, yet it seemed our own mortal bodies and our growing exertion were the real obstacle. An obstacle we would never have foreseen.

The trip to the mountain had drained us of our brightness, our hope, and our ambition. Once inside, it seemed we were ever so slowly losing our strength as we navigated through the passageways leading to the ziggurat. Now within sight, it was as if every step was pulling the life right from our veins.

Turning back with the intention of begging my companions to leave this place, I gasped in shock. The faces of my friends had sunken in, skin turned ashen, and a blackness had taken to their eyes, as if only a shell was left. What startled me even more was they seemed to have the same reaction to my own face.

Removing my glove and touching the depressed recessions of my own skeletal visage, I knew there was no use to my pleading. We had already come too far and there was no going back. The only thing left to choose was what we did with what little time we had left."

Coming in across the finish line we have the final level to this dungeon, a massive ancient underground Ziggurat! Lets hope your players don't end up getting zapped by the energy beams which cause you to roll on the wild magic table ....
