More Likes → Lower Price [Change Suggestion] (Patreon)

Hey JOI enjoyers!

I'm thinking about trying out a new pricing change for the 1st tier. If you all want to see this, I'd like to test it over the coming month/months to see how well it works.

Anyway, here's how it would work. Each like per (tier 1) post would decrease the price of the 1st tier by 1 penny. This would mean that if the posts available to tier 1 supporters get 100 likes on average, for the following month the 1st tier would cost $4 (USD) instead of $5. Next month this would reset and the likes would be counted again for that month's posts. The average would be rounded up to the nearest whole number. I may add a cap onto this if my posts start getting an enormous amount of likes, but we'll see.

I'll be letting all tiers vote in this poll, since if this is a change that works well and you like it, I could implement it for tier 2. I'll look at the votes separately behind the scenes as well, and see if different tiers like or dislike it differently.

If I don't like the effects this change has after I try it, I may change it in the future, but I will update you all on it! If you don't like something about this suggestion or are confused by something, let me know in DMs or in the comments. Of course if the poll gets more noes (No's), then I won't be making this change at all.

Here's an example:
In September I make 4 posts in total, 2 updates and 2 videos. 1 update post and 1 video post for the 2nd and 3rd tiers. 1 update and 1 video post for the 1st tier supporters.
- Update post for tier 1s gets 39 likes
- Video post for tier 1s gets 62 likes
- Since I'll just be trying this out just for tier 1 supporters for now, the tier 2 likes won't be counted and won't bring down the average

(39 + 62)/2 = 50.5
This would round up to 51
$5 - 0.51 = $4.49

$4.49 for the cost of the tier 1 subscription for October

In October I make another 2 posts for tier 1 supporters.
- Update post gets 90 likes
- Video post gets 110 likes

(90+110)/2 = 100
$5 - 1 = $4
$4 for the cost of the tier 1 subscription for November


Q&A:
Q: If you get likes because people want to pay less, how will you know if your videos are good or bad or if subscribers just want a lower price?
A: Likes aren't that good of an indicator of how much my supporters enjoy my videos, especially since there aren't dislikes. Instead, they better indicates how many people my posts reach. Usually if a post reaches a lot of people and gets a lot of views, it gets a lot of likes as well.

Comments are a better way of showing enjoyment, or dislike. You can also DM me if there are parts of my videos you don't enjoy or find a video boring, that would be a way better way of letting me know. Right now the way Patreon works is that the only way of showing you dislike something or don't care for it, but not enough to comment, is by just ignoring it. I'd rather build a vocal community which lets me know if I did something they don't like.

Q: What will happen with tier 2+ posts?
A: Nothing, they will continue functioning as always, you can like them or not like them. It won't count for the price changes. If this new pricing system works really well I can try it with tier 2+ supporters as well.

Q: How long will this last?
A: I'm not sure yet, if people like the new change and I get an influx of new subscribers because of it, it can last indefinitely. If it doesn't make much of a change, I'll revert to the old system of just $5 a month.

If you mean how long will the price change last, then the answer is once every month. Once the month rolls over, the likes will be counted and the price changed for that month only. For the next month only the likes for the posts of that month would count for the month after the next's price.
