After bricking the game, Monika and the other girls had assumed that romance was now a thing of the past. The player was gone, for the best of course, and the four girls would be trapped in their digital purgatory forever, with only their own company. It had never occurred to them that the avatar of the player was self-aware as well, but he was now freed and ecstatic to finally be meeting the girls properly.
