We will be premiering this video on October 16th, at 8PM E.S.T. with the soundtrack premiering right after at 8:30PM. I will likely do a pre-show livestream to just chat with people around 7PM. Should be a fun party. See you all then!

hype 👀

Mark

That was amazing, just what I was hoping. Truthfully there were bits I didn't understand because it's been too long since I watch the rest of the series, so I'm going to have to have an interface night tonight

I don’t have a coherent comment yet, because I’m still digesting this episode, but, wow…wow. That was a beautiful end to a wild ride.

Jod Bless I just finished a midterm

Holy shit dude. What a bittersweet ending. I can’t believe it’s finished. Fantastic job. Would love to get my hands on a Nighthawks print if it becomes merch.

I did a full rewatch before the ending, good stuff. Glad I could support you throughout the creation of the entire film.

Your work is really inspiring

Had to watch it twice! Beautiful ending. Looking through the Perception of the different characters is truly astounding

This one is going to take some serious looking over.

Absolutely fantastic. Loved every second of it.

I am going to go ahead and say it. The ending leaves me feeling a little empty. I mean this in the best way possible though. After decades of mediocre paint by numbers garbage I haven't watched a new movie or tv show in a long time. Masterpiece is a word that gets overused, but this is the most appropriate word that comes to mind. Everything was spot on and the quality only improved along the way. So I feel like i am coming down form the greatest high of my life. I look forward to any future projects big or small, but most of all I love the music.

umami

Thanks Andy :) I get that feeling after reading a good book, or playing a good video game. Whatever is the next project I think Interface prepared me to make whatever it is that comes next.

This is incredible, one of the most original pieces of animation of the last 20 years. Thank you so much for your work on Interface. Are you going to release part 2 as a single video like part 1 at some point?

I’ve watched this several times and still I don’t have enough to say. The best way I could visualize this is The Son of Man painting; I cannot see but a glance, and a glance is all I may muster. It is a delightful send off to the series with an appropriate closing for such an intriguing concept. Every reference, allusion, and incorporation of real life events, works of art, and whatnot adds a sense of believability and creates what I can call immersion. I cannot get the wisdom of mischief out of my head for it repeats and drills in my mind. Never has anything of this sort had such a profound effect: It is humbling to be here and to know I was here. Thank you and may you prosper with future endeavors with all our support at hand.

Wow, what a ride!! Justin, I cannot explain how awesome your work is, and how much of an impact you’ve had on me and my interests. I remember a friend of mine wanting to show me “some cool animation” he found on youtube one day and put on the first episode of interface. I was grabbed IMMEDIATELY by the surrealism of the animation, and “The Year Was 1943” complimented it so perfectly to create that interface feel. I fell in love with the series before I had the slightest clue what was going on, and after I had left that friends house I watched the whole show (Up through episode 14 had been released at the time) twice in a row and then listened to the soundtrack as I went to bed. The next day I just had to hear more and so I came across Hexsystem and listened to everything you’d published at the time, and then listened to nothing else for the next week. (Sometime later I ended up buying the part one vinyl, and just pre-ordered part two :) ) I remember then joining the umami discord coming across a discussion about interpretations of one of the paintings featured on the series, and I hadn’t even recognized that there were real artworks on the show. I then started looking into these art works and really fell in love with surrealism and discovered an interest in art that I had never felt before, one that extended beyond just your work on Interface and as Hexsystem. I was never someone who cared at all about art and that had changed because of you. I got into lots of different artists and then came across the gallery of your paintings on your website, and I was blown away again!! I absolutely love 2016-01 and 2015-03 is my favorite. Recently, I went to a Salvador Dali museum and had such a great time! No one in my family has ever been much appreciative of art so it was an entirely new experience going to an art museum, and I believe I must credit you for awakening that interest in me. Something I always loved about interface was the fact that I didn’t truly understand, and one of my favorite parts of following the series was reading everyone’s different interpretations of the series, and how those interpretations would change as the story expanded. This finale left me in awe and stumped me just as much as the rest of the show, and I can’t wait to go through the whole series again and try to piece together my own new interpretation now that the story has reached its conclusion :) Thank you umami for all the work you put into being a creator, I can’t wait to see what else you make!
