RETRY: Demon’s Souls | Special Edition is coming out on Sunday, June 11th – exactly one year to the day we released the original series.

We're very fond of RETRY: Demon's Souls. We approached making it in a new way. Filmed across a couple of weeks at the end of 2021, then worked on for nearly 6 months in post-production, the entire project represents not only a new benchmark for us in terms of production but pushes forward what we think a long-form Let’s Play series can be. We're very proud of the series, and think it’s really funny, too.

At the end of that initial shoot, we filmed three extra videos with Papa Finchy and lots of behind-the-scenes footage. We thought we’d bring them all together, with some other extras, to make our own Special Edition for the series.

All videos can be watched on YouTube, and will be made available to our Early Access, Producer, and Posh Slug tiers on June 11.

Episode Commentaries

We’ve recorded two really fun commentaries for the season premiere and, as voted by patrons, Episode 10 – the one with jell-o shots and Maneaters. We’ve got plenty of little stories about the production, but also a fair few tangents too. We’re big fans of directors commentaries on DVDs and we’ve basically recorded 3-hours worth of podcasts.

Let’s Plays

After visiting the Old One, the next day we came in and filmed three extra Let’s Plays. They’re all centred on little things we didn’t have time to explore in our main playthrough.

Old Monk Finchy (15 minutes)

We fought the Old Monk, but we wanted Papa Finchy to become the Old Monk. So we spent some time hanging out in Upper Latria, waiting to be summoned. Watch as Papa becomes the boss.

Naughty Papa (35 minutes)

We didn’t want to make Papa evil in our canonical playthrough, so we never took on Mephistopheles’ questline. But these aren’t canon, so Papa gets really evil in this video, killing beloved NPCs and embracing the demon within.

The Expendables (22 minutes)

Surprisingly Papa didn’t slay the Vanguard Demon in Episode 1. So we’re heading back, taking on the tutorial boss with a series of randomly-generated expendable Finchies. Can one of them succeed where Papa failed?

Papa Finchy Wallpaper Collection

We loved working with BLOC. on the presentation of this series, and he’s returned to produce some fantastic art for the Special Edition release. So we’re also offering all of those as wallpapers for desktops and phones, as a nice little extra way of remembering Papa Finchy.
