Shield Up 201: The New Regime (Patreon)

Hello you beautiful Patrons, 

We love making Shield Up and with the 200th episode under our belts, we wanted to take a minute and redefine what we think the show is all about.

The podcast started nearly four years ago, and it’s been a staple of our Patreon offering ever since. The original pitch was simple: we wanted to solve your problems. But over the last year or so, the podcast has evolved and has become a way of talking about lots of different things, beyond dilemmas you’ve sent in, and we wanted to recognise this and make it official.

We’ve always described Shield Up as our ‘community podcast’, and that can mean so many things. Ultimately, we see the podcast as an informal way for us to regularly engage with you, the RKG community. 

While we’ll still happily tackle any problems we receive, we want to encourage you to send in more than just dilemmas. Do you have a burning question about RKG you’ve always wanted to know? Do you have a talking point you’d like us to tackle? We always want to hear from you and now you get to steer what Shield Up is all about.

Here’s some of the things you’ve already been sending in that we might tackle in the not too distant future…

• What would be RKG’s combined Marvel Movie ranking?
• If money was no object, what one RKG project would you make?
• Who would win in a fight - the Dark Souls bosses or the Bloodborne bosses?
• What is the best sporting moment you’ve ever witnessed live?
• Can we decide an NFL team for Daniel to support?

These would all make brilliant episodes of Shield Up. So from now on we’ll be tackling different topics or talking points each week sometimes just the one and sometimes a few in one episode. And of course, there’ll always be room for any Minging or Fair Plays we get sent. 

There’s also no need to make anything you now send in anonymous (but obviously feel free to do so if you want). So if you want to get a shoutout on the podcast, then we absolutely encourage you to put your name on it.

We love making this podcast for you, and these changes recognise where the show is already heading, and will ensure the next 200 episodes will be even better.
