Black Lives Matter: A Message from RKG (Patreon)
Content
To the RKG community,
We’ve decided to put our Division 2 playthrough on hold for obvious reasons. We’ll resume it at some point, but given the current state of the world, it isn’t important right now.
What is important is using our platform for good and to create awareness.
There are more important voices to be listening to on these issues than our own. We obviously feel passionately about these issues, but now is the time to listen and to learn, and to support a movement – not just now but from now on.
Below we’ve assembled a list of resources – places to donate, things to read, watch, listen – if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the options you’re seeing elsewhere. They’re by no means comprehensive, but they’re starting points.
Donations
We have donated to The Bail Project on behalf of RKG using this month’s Patreon money.
Why The Bail Project?
Because people are currently demonstrating en masse in America, it’s likely many of these people will suffer as a consequence – being held in pre-trial detention even while presumed innocent. It is an act of solidarity with those trying to make a stand and an act of resistance against a system that is weighted against people of colour. We believe this is an important cause as protests are mounted across the US.
But there are many places doing vital work.
If you want to donate individually, here are some other places to consider.
US
Official George Floyd Memorial Fund
Here’s the official GoFundMe set up for the family of George Floyd. They are fighting to seek justice for George. The funds will be used for that fight, and for the benefit, care, and education of his children.
Even though its name is synonymous with the wider movement, BlackLivesMatter is a specific organisation that was set up in 2013. It is based in the US, UK, and Canada. It works towards creating local power to prevent violence inflicted on black communities by the state and vigilantes. “By combating and countering acts of violence, creating space for Black imagination and innovation, and centering Black joy, we are winning immediate improvements in our lives.”
At the suggestion of Kai in the comments, here's a link to The Movement for Black Lives – a space for discussion and to organise effectively and strategically to lead to the real long-term change that is necessary once the protests are over.
UK
It’s easy to think of this as a US issue. It isn’t. It’s a global issue. Here are some places to donate to in the UK.
Stephen Lawrence was killed by an unprovoked racist attack in 1993. This trust set up in his memory helps young people from disadvantaged backgrounds succeed in careers of their choice. Your background shouldn’t limit what you do for the rest of your life.
Liberty is the UK’s largest civil liberties organisation. Liberty challenges injustice, stands up to power, and works towards equality in the UK. If you’re planning on protesting, they are an invaluable resource in knowing your rights.

It’s important to learn about the unseen history that created the world in which we live, to listen to the perspective and experiences of others, and to then consider your own place within all of this. There’s lots of places here to get started.
