RKG 3-Month Update

Hello RKG patrons!

It’s been three months since we started out on this new adventure and launched RKG. Whether you’ve just joined or been here since January 7th, we wanted to take a minute and update you on where we’re at and, more excitingly, what’s next.

But first… if you’re reading this, thank you.

No, seriously – thank you. Your support literally makes all of this possible. Three months ago we were all bricking it on the eve of launching RKG, as we had no idea how it was going to go, and within a few hours of launching, we realised that we could do this full-time and make it something special.

What We’ve Done So Far

The biggest priority for us was to get up-and-running quickly and start delivering the new version of Prepare To Try. We wanted to deliver on that first and get to a place where we could comfortably deliver that, a weekly livestream, and a podcast, before incorporating other projects.

But now that's all up-and-running we're starting to work on additional things for you.

Livestreams

We’d never live-streamed together before. We’ve always put out an edited show, so while loads of people do streaming, it was something quite new to us.

We’ve gotten more into the flow, and doing the anniversary livestream was one of the best things we’ve done so far. In the future, we’re looking to improve our streams in terms of production – the set-up is pretty basic right now – and what we’re doing on them. There’s a few key changes we want to make, especially to deliver a better experience for the Producer’s Post Show. But we’ll run through all the improvements we’re making in a separate post.

Merch

T-shirts are coming!

We just finalised the design for the first RKG tee this week. We expect to launch that in the next couple of weeks. But first we’re getting samples made – we want to test out different t-shirts and deliver the best quality tee we can. We’d hate to knock something out that’s going to look crap after a couple of washes. (And yes, there will be multiple colours and even hoodies, too.)

While we could have launched with a dozen mediocre designs, we want to launch a new piece of merch every three months. We want it to be something special that we work on with a designer. We’re so happy with how the first designed turned out, and can’t wait to show you.

Posh Slugs, we’ll be in touch shortly to explain how you can redeem your free shirt and first personalised video message.

Live Shows

We’ve been out and about looking at venues and doing some research. We’re also looking into doing some more meet and greet-style events like we did with Ape Out.

And FinchyFest?

Yes, it’s happening. It’ll be at a similar time to the other ones – so around Sept-Dec time. We’re looking into venues. We want to make it a little bigger, but deciding on how we see it all working. We’d like to make it a multi-day affair, since we know people would travel for it because we see it as much about celebrating you guys in the community as it is watching us muck about.

New Projects

We had an all-day meeting round Krupa’s flat the other day where we discussed new projects. Once Retry: Dark Souls 2 is wrapped, we’ll do a mini-series on Resident Evil 2 and then we’ll move on to Sekiro. Krupa’s currently playing through it, and we’re all pretty sure it’s got the potential to give us an amazing series of Retry.

But in addition to Retry, we’ve planned some more one-off videos, and some new exciting movies and games focussed podcasts. We want those to be a little different, so are developing some  new formats that we hope you’ll love.

Communication

In our Patreon video we say that we want to build something together, and we’re fully committed to that. We’ve never done anything like this before, so there’s been a lot to learn, and more still to do. But we want to listen to you and work on things together.

We’re looking into ways we can better do that, including weekly blogs posted here on Patreon, but for starters – add any questions you have on any of this stuff down below and we’ll answer each one.

PTT and RKG, or "The Finchy Show" as we call it, has replaced "The Office" as our go-to funny show to have streaming in the background at all times. Congrats on 3 months, and here's to many many more!

Oi! Beau from Minnesota here (Beau B on YouTube). I've been trying to catch every live stream but have been off for the last few weeks. Been smashing the treadmill while watching you legends. Thanks for the distraction while I've been recuperating from an old army injury. I was late to the #rkg3 video and thought, oh no, those things were a bitch in Iraq. RKG3 banter is far more preferable than RKG3 anti-tank grenades. Keep replacing old bad memories with good new ones!

Congrats on 3 months boys! Can’t wait to see what’s next. I was wondering if it would be possible for you guys to post the time/date for your live streams in Australian time (AEST). I’d love to get behind them live but I’m a bit of a pencil and can’t lock down the times properly in my head. If you could add that to the other time zones you list I’m sure the aussies would appreciate it!

Lady Vengeance

Lads I am overwhelmed by the amount of love and thought you’re putting into this. Your plans for the future look incredible and I’m so excited to take the journey with you. The most important thing is to do what you love and what interests you and we Slugs will be entertained! Thanks for the months and years of good times.

I just want you three to know that the cadence of my week has somehow miraculously aligned with the early release of Retry and Shield Up. Every Friday morning I wake up and watch Retry with coffee, finally in an oasis where I can be undisturbed for the better part of the morning and afternoon. After Retry, I clean my house and listen to Shield Up. You bring peace and rhythm to my life in a way that almost nothing else does. Thank you for everything you've done and for everything coming!
