Starting November 2024, Apple will require that Patreon use its in-app purchasing system. They will also be removing all third party billing systems from the Patreon IOS app. Further, all in-app payments will be subject to a 30% App Store fee.

No, it's not fair. Yes, it's bullshit. But Apple owns their IOS so no one gets to do anything about it. If you pay me through the Apple app, I highly recommend that you connect to Patreon through a regular browser.

I subscribed on the app, but used my normal credit card for billing. Do you know if this would still effect me as technically I’m not paying thru apple?

Based on this email, it applies solely to NEW memberships so unless we unsubscribe then we should all be fine no?

The email says it only applies to new memberships and will not change old ones. So you should be fine for now. Apple will totally try to get old ones eventually though.

Lot of companies these days charge the current rate on a renewal subscription, no real lock in contract. I am not sure I would take the odds of apple ignoring the existing payments going to patreon or patreon just eating the loss here. Hope for the best, expect the worst. That way you are never disappointed.

From what I have seen on other patreons it’s about where you pay, not about owning the app. So if you own the app but pay through browser it should be fine.

4 out of ever 5 updates that come from Patreon (I’ll count this as Patreon) is shit and reason to go to Ko-Fi. I know you used it before, but you can open it again incase they decide to delete your nt for some reason. There where authors who got flagged and told their chapter needs to be reviewed before it can be posted. And your Coil chapter would have likely been flagged.
