 Hello everyone,

I hope you all are doing fine.

Do you all work from home? Because I also work from home.

This is a long week for me. Because in the country where I live, everyone is currently enjoying a week of holiday. Normally this occasion is a great opportunity to enjoy spring vacation with your family and friends. But during a Corona outbreak like this, everyone has to enjoy their long vacation at home. Without any productive activities, this can be a daunting experience for most of us.

As you know, Translator++ uses WolfTrans to retrieve and insert translations into WRPGE games.

For me, WolfTrans is a very good and very useful tool. However, I received many complaints about the compatibility of Translator++ with WRPGE games.

So I decided to be more productive this week by looking thoroughly at WolfTrans.

And, I’ve found several major problems…

  1. WolfTrans does not support any games made with the English version of WRPGE.
I did not realize this problem before. Because previously WRPGE was only popular among Japanese developers. And  I've only tried to translate Japanese games before.
But now the English version of WRPGE is very good. And there are probably many games made with the English version of WRPGE. But unfortunately WolfTrans does not support all games made with the English version of WRPGE.
  2. WolfTrans does not translate string arguments for common events.
Which will cause some text not to appear on Translator++ ‘s grid.
Some developers use very sophisticated techniques to display dialogue. Often they utilize Common Events’s parameters to do their magic.
  3. A single exception will halt the entire parsing process.
  4. WolfTrans hasn’t been updated and maintained for a long time.

So, I decided to make my own tool to handle WRPGE translations from scratch. This tool will fix a lot of problems that previously occurred when translating WRPGE.

And because this tool is written in Node. This tool will be seamlessly compatible with Translator++.

Currently I have successfully parsed the map Files, common events files & database files. … which means … all the files mandatory for translation.

Common Events are successfully parsed into Javascript’s object

And I still haven’t decided yet whether to translate the .project file too or not. All strings in this file only appear in the game creation process (in the editor’s UI of WRPGE), and do not appear in the game itself.

But there is still much that needs to be done. It may take some more time before this new module is integrated perfectly in Translator++. In the meantime, please consider becoming a Patron to show your support for this project.

I know this isn't relevant to the post but I can't find any answer for any the program doesn't support RPG Maker 2000. Is it just because it's too old and is thus incompatible with the program or some other similar reason, or is it because it's not as widely used? Sorry for bothering you with this question, it's just that I'm trying to translate an RM2K game and this tool looks perfect.

Man... this was not how much work I was expecting it to take to translate WolfRPG games. I was one of the users who was pretty annoying about WolfRPG support and I'm embarrassed to say I didn't expect the challenges to run so deep. Really appreciate you spending your time to do this. Thank you for all your hard work.

Hi, Eagertrain. RPG Maker 2000 is a very old engine, pretty much abandoned by the creators and the game makers. If i have more time, I would spend it on creating a parser for more prominent engines like Kiri-kiri, or Unity or so. Don't you agree?

dreamsavior

Yes, it actually is a lot of work. Honestly, I would rather work for the support for other engines than rewriting the already existing project. But, leaving the problem will only leave a bitter taste in my mouth. So here we are...

Yea, that's understandable. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Please read the system requirement here : http://dreamsavior.net/download/#TPPSysreq . The download link for required VC redist is provided there. It is VC 2015.

I have the same problem as bdsmguy. I've uninstalled and installed VC 2015 many times, with restarts and everything. When I try to use it, I get Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required 'autoInit.php' (include_path='.;./php/includes') in Unknown on line 0 which is obvious, because there's no php. I'm using the public version Ver. 2.2.20E

Wolf games doesn't accept special characters from my native language (portugese brazilian) like rpgmaker games, for example, "opções" will appear in the game this way "op??es", are you planning in improve this feature for wolf games too in this remaking? and thanks for develop this amazing tool bro :)

Wolf RPG Maker doesnt accept any other cpecial characters natively (only japanese and engish). Its pain in the ass to force engine to show them. I'm russian and Wanna translate two games made on this engine, but its just hard to translate Wolf games.

Hello Dreamsavior, I get some feedback from the friends who uses Tranlator++ as their translation tool in our Chinese community. They are using the public version 2.2.20E. The first one is that Translator++ does not support Chinese path. That means we cannot put it in a folder whose name contains any Chinese character. The second one is about the WolfRPG translation. It seems that the wolftrans used in Translator++ does not support Chinese. I'm not a WolfRPG user, so I just don't know how to answer him. I see your efforts on remaking WolfTrans, so I hope this issue could be solved in the next Translator++ version. Finally, many thanks to you for your excellent contribution! Hope Translator++ could be better and better. MaxAlex

Hello Dreamsavior, one of my friends in the Chinese community suggests that an Encoding Converter could be added to Translator++ for RM2K/Wolf RPG, since the original rpgmakertrans only supports SJIS. Please consider this. :D Max Alex

Hi Alex, Thank you, for your report. A rework is currently being made for Wolf RPG translation. I hope this will also fix that problem.
