In this AU:

Shahar (Kaito) and Shalem - 18 years old - twins

Tehran x ??? years old - resides at the top of the highest mountain. His nature is unknown, but he has always been respected as the guardian deity of the region

PLOT:

The people of where Shahar and Shalem live worships a demon, whom renowned as “the Inukami”

Apart from monthly offerings of rare animals and wine, two 18-year-olds of a man and a woman must be selected to present to this deity every two years - citizens believe this is how their submission best conveyed to their protector.

The human offerings are starved for two full days, bathed in herbs and finally placed in front of the sacred mountain altar. No one truly knows the fate of these chosen ones, but human bones are often found scattered around the altar the next several days.

And this time, the offerings are Shalem and Shahar, the region lord’s twins who just turned 18...
