Public Build Update to 2.2.0 – MM/Raven (Patreon)

Hey everyone!

We’re updating the public build today to the second completion update (2.2.0) – the one that focuses primarily on content for Miss Martian and Raven. You can find the download links at the bottom of this post. 

To be honest, we find the release schedule between the public and Patreon builds difficult to manage. The question of how long before updating the public build is acceptable and/or respectful to our patrons is one every dev utilizing the Patreon-model has to war with – and, contrary to what some people may believe, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer. This can result in public build updates being temporarily forgotten or delayed for longer than initially intended.  

It ultimately comes down to what your particular purpose for public builds is, and we’ve come to the conclusion that they’re primarily meant to be a preview people can play and decide whether or not we’re worth supporting. We keep it regularly updated out of respect for fans and nsfw gaming community members who may be unable to financially support us, but we also hope those people understand that we do feel a need to do what we can to provide value to those who help us keep the lights on and grow as a studio. 

For those of you who want to point at the ease of piracy as some means to support any viewpoint on the subject - piracy isn’t part of the equation. It’s entirely outside of our hands. There’s no reasonable way to combat it. We neither support nor condone it, but spending any sort of effort or resources against it would be futile on our end. 

Therefore, we can’t reasonably use its existence as a means by which to make decisions. Our only recourse is the honor system, and we make our public build update decisions with it in mind – hence the aforementioned rationale explanation (for those of you curious enough to read any of this).
