What to Expect in 2019 (Patreon)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We hope everyone’s having fun nursing their hangovers from last night’s festivities. Given that it’s a brand spanking new 1/1, we figured we’d kick things off by giving everyone a general idea of our plans for 2019! Starting with:

• More Completion Updates for SU

The next couple of updates, including this month’s, are already mapped out – here’s a link to the roadmap in case you missed it. During 2.2.1’s development we plan to reconvene and come up with a plan for the next 3 updates too. 

Most of SU’s updates this year will be completion updates, but we’re going to keep something special under wraps for each release – and that includes the one coming out at the end of this month! Who knows which bird is getting her feathers ruffled alongside MM in 2.2.0?! You’ll have to keep your eyes our during the update’s teaser week to find out!   

• The OC Alpha

In addition to all the SU goodness, we really want to get the OC project’s alpha into your hands this year – giving everyone a taste of not only the graphical design but also the core gameplay loop so it’s not some hypothetical project anymore. That said, SU will continue to take precedence over OC work for Sunset, so we’re playing it by ear.

We do feel quite confident about what we have in store though. ; )

• At Least One New SU Event

We’re not promising one! But we would like to add at least one new event to SU. It might be the long-awaited Halloween event; it might not. If things go poorly throughout the year for whatever reason it’ll probably be the first thing pushed back. However, we have A LOT of event ideas for SU and would really like to get at least one more in alongside the completion updates this year. 

• More Seasonal Content for SU

Again, WE’RE NOT PROMISING IT! But it’s an area we’d like to really improve upon compared to last year. We don’t mean anything huge. Maybe an extra scene or two, or some background decoration changes. Don’t expect anything super soon, like for Valentine’s Day – these kinds of things have to be planned WELL in advance – but we’d like to add more surprise seasonal content if we can get ahead. 

• Small Newgrounds Cuts of SU (with mobile versions)

These are WAY low on the priority list – so it’s anyone’s guess if we actually wind up doing them at all, let along this year. However, we’ve been toying around with the idea of kinda cutting popular sections/content from SU, creating small standalone experiences with them and putting them on Newgrounds – maybe throwing in a few new, exclusive additional scenes too. If we do that, Locke has said he’ll make Android ports of those small standalone cuts of the game too. 

Tip of the Iceberg

These are just some of the plans and ideas we have in store for 2019. We’re constantly looking for ways to expand, better ourselves, and bring you all more content, products and general entertainment. We even have some, in-game and out-of-game, quality of life ideas we think many of you would appreciate too.
