I know we mentioned before we were ok with the fee changes, mainly due to how our Patreon is structured and how the majority of you pay $5.00. Although we were not impacted as greatly as many other creators, we have seen a large amount of deleted pledges all ranging from $1.00-$20.00 with the same message "New Fees". If you have supported for the month of December you shouldn't be billed if you re-pledge as you have paid already. Thank you all for the continued support

If you can please help Patreon sort this out intelligently by taking this anonymous survey

We messed up. We're sorry, and we're not rolling out the fees change. - The Patreon Blog

Creators and Patrons, We've heard you loud and clear. We're not going to rollout the changes to our payments system that we announced last week.

You guys were the only people I followed who were completely for the change, so I'm sorry you won't benefit from the change yet but I am glad Patreon actually listened here. I understand their intentions, as you showed it would help people like you, they just need to find a way to nto screw over others in the process.

I am glad everyone's voices was heard and respected!

In our situation it allowed us to retain our new programmer with ease. So really our for was purely situational and we probably would have been not for it if we didn't reinvest a lot of our money back into our company. -SmokeShank

I'll be honest, I may have had to cancel/adjust alot of my pledges if this had gone through, possibly this one too. Glad this won't be happening.

I'm sure they will make some changes, but now they are listening to people. -SmokeShank (here is the link to a survey on how you can help mold fees https://jamiec1.typeform.com/to/gvucuX )

Excuse me for asking here, but can some kind soul explain to me why these changes hurt $1-$2 patreons more, relative to other patreons? I thought i read it through and they would put an aditional 30% fee only, but in that case it doesnt matter if you pay 1 or 100, so i must clearly have missed something.

I didn't drop my pledge as I couldn't give a rats ass about what patreon does, as long as this is the way to support you I'll remain as a supporter, especially since I'm one of the 2 in top category :)

it also was meant to add a fixed 30+ cent fee on top as a fixed thing, so if you pay 1$ you also pay some $0.40 in fees on top of it. So 40% extra which is crazy.

I have spread the word across 15 of my other games I am supporting so the word is getting out now. ^_^ Thanks for letting us know Sunsetriders

I wasn't really bothered and didn't pull any pledges, but it seems if Patreon is so concerned about not enough money getting to creators they should lower their cut rather than charge the patrons more.

gunsmokegames

The cut they take is what makes the platform so enticing (5%). The problem was with the increase in transactions they would handle and the increase in processing fees we would have to take on. I'm sure they will figure it out. -SmokeShank

at $5 7% more money is paid out that goes to credit card companies alone, assuming the patron backs $40 worth of pledges. at $20 it is 2% again assuming $40 worth of pledges. at $20 with you being to only pledge it is only a 1% difference. i know you don't care about the $1 pledges, but that is a 34% increase in service fees at $40 total pledges for the patron. adjust the amount pledged to pay out the same makes little difference to the $5 and $20 amounts, though at $1 the amount is raised to 54% difference (again assuming $40 in total pledges).

gunsmokegames

I would never say we don't care about the $1.00 pledges. Many of those are eventually converted to $5.00 for many reasons. We personally didn't realize the extent at which $1.00 pledging was happening. We had a very narrow view due to how our patreon is structured. With that being said ultimately we all love how Patreon aggregates the payments and reduces the overall processing cost. -SmokeShank
