Anne's last name, Boonchuy (Thai: บุญช่วย), roughly translates to "one who encourages or performs good deeds" in the Thai language. Her middle name, Savisa, is named after Matt Braly's cousin, Savisa Bhumiratana. Anne was based on Braly's childhood trips to Bangkok, Thailand, in that she is a Thai-American like him.
