I've been doing some close-up paintings for work , and made some brushes to help achieve different surface effects.

How I'd use these is render with the ones labelled shader and then smear/blend areas where the texture is too heavy (like deep shadows). You can also just stamp on a specular highlight with the specular brushes.

overall I think they're a good time saver, especially for getting specular highlights with more interesting and realistic shapes.
