Hello lovely patrons!

We've hit November, which I personally think is the start of the festive season. It's a very busy month for us, with a game release plus a lot of catch up after being overseas for a lot of October. December will see us winding down a little for the year before we come back full force in January.

Anyway, on to the update:


Dreambound

Art

Our lead artist Sinran is taking a little holiday at the moment, but we have another CG preview for you!

This Ivan CG has a much softer feel to it than his others. I really like it.

After this we still have Kaine's route CGs to go. We're hoping the art can pick up a little speed in the new year to get it all done by around April. The art is one of the most time consuming parts of indie development in my opinion, but it's time well spent!


Writing

Just in case you missed it last month... writing is complete on Dreambound! Yay! We're still going through and editing some parts, but we're very happy with where the script is at.

I'm still waiting to receive the final edited script for Kaine's route before I go over it myself, which I'm hoping will take no longer than two weeks. Then the two of us plan to go through and program in the three routes to release as beta builds.

Demo Release

The demo for A Date with Death released last month to fantastic reviews - we couldn't be happier!

The full game is due to come out either late November or early December. We're working hard to get it out and released so we can focus fully on Dreambound programming once again!


Art

We've increased the CG count to five. Yeah, that didn't take long... there is one in the middle of the game, then four to find for the different endings. One of them will be exclusive to the paid DLC that will be available on launch. We may add some more later!

Writing

We've finished combing through day 2 of the game and the script for it is now mostly complete (minus a few additional jobs we plan to add later). We're going back through to add in more DLC options and make sure they're super fun, but we've also started work on day 3 of the game.

We have up until day 5 currently playable and in game, however we go through each day around 4-5 times very carefully to test for errors, add additional conversations and choices, and to add in extra expressions.


Programming

First of all, on top of going through the script to add additional text, I've been working on day 2's room exploration. This involves a lot of writing and planning. I'm happy to announce it's 95% complete - I'm still working on writing the short story that will be added to the bookshelf as well as the new computer feature.


This screen is currently a WIP with incomplete UI, but you get the drift. You'll be able to play a couple of minigames, check out any unlocked images, as well as jump into a chat with the Grim Reaper.

As well as this, we've begun implementing a new character card feature:


This will let you write up a custom backstory and save an image of your character + your backstory so you can keep a piece of them after you finish the game.

We're also upgrading the UI for the character creator:

This will take a little while though!


Focus for the next month

I'm so hyped! I got myself the A Date With Death DLC set on Itch as a lil bday treat to myself 😚 I also think seeing the process like this is very interesting though, I've never known much about game development and getting your explanations is really cool✨
