Update #11 (Patreon)
Content
Hello everyone!
Gabby here to give you another update on what's been happening lately.
First of all, only one day left to enter our dakimakura giveaway! I can't wait to draw the winner. The other interesting thing we have going on is our postcard promotion, which will end in 6 days.
We're making steady progress in completing our animation, but our animator Stefani is away at the moment. She's used this time to create a draft storyboard of another possible animation as well.
Background are 100% complete for the demo, and Henry is now working on ones that are further in to the story. We hope to put out an extended demo some time in the future. We'll be showing off the next BG soon, but it's a little bit of an early game spoiler, so watch out for that.
We've had a lot of "event" artworks lately, like Leos' birthday and our two V-Day ones. Fuyuure has also completed both Cyne and Leos' dakimakuras, and the sketches for both of the Speakers. Once his are complete, we have a few minor sprites to work on, and around 5 more CGs.
Our main menu theme should be completed this weekend, as well! We're thinking about possibly animating it in the future, depending on how the KS goes.
The one other thing we're currently working on is partial voice acting. Times have been scheduled, so once we receive those files we'll start implementing them.
We're also considering putting out an android version of the demo! I hope that it will let even more people try it out!
Lastly, we've been gathering together a list of youtubers, streamers, journalists and more to contact about both our demo and the kickstarter. For it to be a success, we need to get out to as many people as possible. If you know anyone you think would love to try it, please let us know!
As a bonus, enjoy a little excerpt from the script! We're currently at around ~60k words, with so much more to write. We're aiming for 150k, but it looks like it'll be more!
Enjoy!
Fawn
“There. That’s the coastal city of Stagwich.”
Raen
I dropped to my knees.
Past the treeline, the sun was setting a brilliant shade of yellow over the sprawled out contents below.
Large, rocky structures… water that goes on forever…. a city…
A city?!
“Fawn you.. you weren’t lying… you aren’t crazy after all…”
Fawn
“Did you really think I was?! I wouldn’t lie to you!”
Leos
“......”
Raen
The town wrapped around the coast line, and lanterns around it were slowly flickering to life as the sun descended further and further.
“Everything.... everything I know, everything we’ve been taught… was a lie…?”
The view made me dizzy. I had to hold the ground in place just to feel secure.
Leos
“This.... this can’t be true..…”
“What the Speaker says isn’t a lie.... he has no reason to lie to us.”
Raen
That’s right. The Speaker. He wouldn’t lie about something like this.
“Maybe he just… doesn't know?”
A slight wind blew my hair around, so I tucked some locks behind my ear. It was cold, cooler than at home.
Fawn
“Well…”
“Hiding the outside world....”
“......seems like a difficult thing to do. It could be an accident, but…”
Raen
“Then.. everything you said about not coming from Aurelia Cavella, about the towns surrounding here… they were true as well?”
Fawn
“Of course. I’ve never lied to you.”
“I’ve never even seen Aurelia Cavella. I barely knew it existed.”
Raen
I crawled closer to the edge of the cliff. Fawn and Leos sat down beside me.
“There’s so much water. I’ve never seen so much! Does it go out forever?”
Fawn
“It’s the ocean. It goes until it hits another block of land, and there’s other cities across it as well.”
Raen
The water glistened in the fading light. It was beautiful.
Beautiful, but something about it made me feel…. sad.
The more I looked on the fantastical landscape that went as far as the eye could see, the more lost I felt.
My whole life…
I would never have known….
“And those? What are those giant rocks?”
Fawn
“The mountains?”
Raen
“Did someone build them? They’re huge!”
Fawn
“Ahaha!”
“No, they’re natural. Like the ocean, and the forests, and everything around us.”
Raen
“I see….”
My arm throbbed numbly. I could feel the markings buzz, like they were alive.
We sat for awhile, just taking it all in.
“Maybe…”
Fawn
“Hmm?”
Raen
“Does fate not exist after all…?”
“My life… should be quiet, uneventful… but here I am.”
“My Judgement wasn’t anything like this.”
Leos
“The Speaker is always right. Everyone in Aurelia Cavella lives up to what he says they will.”
His worried face as he looked over the land below us didn’t convince me. Even Leos couldn’t help but doubt what we were seeing.
Fawn
“Maybe….”
“Maybe its because you all do what he tells you to…?”
“I believe in destiny. But I also believe that fate is what you make of it. You can become anything.”
“I don’t know him, but just because he tells you one thing, doesn't mean you can’t live your life how you want to.”
Raen
“Fate isn’t absolute..?”
Fawn
“That’s what I think. Your hard work and effort are the things that determine whether your fate comes true or not.”
