[Crystal Empire - 1000+ years before the show]

Once upon a time in the lands of tundra, where everything was covered with snow, there was a single empire that was located in the middle of the land. They called the city in the middle of these lands, the city of the Crystal Ponies. The snow was all they knew, for it would always fall for nearly all the whole year. But they never suffered from the snow, for they have a magic shield that protected them from the cold, snow and any monsters that tried to invade their wonderful city.

And this kingdom was ruled by only a single king, for he had no queen to rule alongside him. But he did have one daughter, a filly that he truly cared for and thus, always kept her safe in the crystal castle. Since he cared for his daughter so much, never did he let her go outside. But this didn’t stop the ever curious filly, who always found a way to escape from her room and her personal guard many times. And one day, the ever daring filly escaped from her room and continued well beyond where she dared go before, in order to wander around the edge of the barrier to her father’s city.

It was here that she noticed something outside the barrier. She walked across the barrier to investigate it and surprisingly found that it was a young colt. But he wasn’t like any colt she knew. His skin didn’t sparkle like crystal and he had a pointy horn on his head. However, the filly did notice that the colt seemed to still be awake, so she asked him a question.

Filly : Hello, stranger.

Colt : ".....Hello?...." *The colt answered back with a monotone voice. The voice that sounded tired and hopeless*

Filly : What kind of pony are you? I’ve never seen anypony like you before. *Filly look at down at young colt curiously*

Colt : I am a Unicorn. Are you an Earth Pony?

Filly : What is an Earth Pony? I am a Crystal Pony.

Colt : Crystal Pony?.....Never heard of it before... *The colt closed his eyes. The cold was making him so tired that he couldn’t even open his eyes anymore.*

Filly : Why are you alone in the snow like this? Is it comfortable for you to sleep on the snow like this? *Filly said with a bright and innocent voice*

Colt : I'm lost...Snow fell everywhere and the Windegos attacked my village. I ran away from them. I ran and ran until I ended up here. I'm a colt...I'm tired...I think I will freeze to death here... *His mind was a blur to him. It seems like the filly’s voice was the only thing that was keeping him from losing consciousness*

Filly : Mmmmm...Do you want to stay at my house for a while? It isn't far from here and we also have a fireplace.

Colt : I have no strength left to walk... *True to his words. He tried to get up but he couldn’t even feel his legs. Let alone try to move it*

Filly : That’s alright! Let me carry you!!

*The filly walked close to the colt and pulled him over her back before slowly walking back to the city.*

Filly : What is your name? *Filly asks him when they walk pass the barrier*

Sombra : I'm Sombra...Just Sombra...

Crystal Heart : Nice to meet you, Sombra! I'm Crystal Heart!! ^-^
