Your sexandroid's still going to have all the memories from your first encounter, so a species change would be suggesting that you considered hir a mistake the first time. If you really want a connection, better to stick with the original species.

I don't even know why are being given the chance to change species XD If Vava and the voters wanted a true connection, Rainbow Droid wouldnt be taken away in the first place, since Rainbow Dash is the shape that Fluttershy specifically chosen since the very beginning.

We could always have it be a rainbow dash dragon. Being a different species might get around the whole " looks like an existing species" thing.
