Go save that guard. You wouldn't live with yourself if you just let that by and you probably gonna need all the help you can get. You have to save your hive and then the Crystal Empire.

I think we need to help guard. Better if we can made it by use peaceful method, like letter about this situation to princess Twilight.

We may need help in dealing with the threat to the hive, but time is of the essence. Continue to the other side with resolve to tell Twilight and Flurry Heart that this guard deserves commendation not condemnation. He is, after all, the only reason we made it to Ponyville.

We can't help the guard now. A cockamamie rescue now would risk your ability to help the hive and would still not allow him to continue being a royal guard, since he'd have to hide from the law. Focus on the hive for now. Later you can work on helping him the right way; for now, a little time in jail isn't the end of the world.

The guard would be fine if he's going to the castle im sure they can clear things up then. freeing him now will just make things worse. also if theres a dragon horde in the badlands why are these guards not watching the border in case the dragons move towards them?

Could Black Vine deliver a letter to Twilight? While I agree for helping the guard, the others will be able to detect any disguise you're in and getting delayed here could be costly.

Can't leave him, don't have time to exactly save him.... both then. What we do to satisfy all merits is RECRUIT him. We break him out with the understanding that we need a guard whom knows the area and is willing and able to fight if need be. The necklace is our proof that we are the equestrian he should be protecting and that we can fix things on our return, but we need one more favor. Genocide sits well on no ones mind. Make recruiting him part of the save the hive mission.
