I want to try some short animation for a while but can't muster enough courage to do it. I'm a kind of person that worry about things a lot. "What software should I use?" "What brush should I use?" "Can I add color later?" These thoughts always paralyzed me with fear of trying anything. I will be stumbling for a while so please bear with me during this process.

PS. It will be only a couple seconds long

I'm guessing the most painful way would be one picture per frame, but if you construct your artwork with ... eh not sure how to describe ... separated pieces that you can move/replace separately, that should be ok, right?

I'm the exact same way as you, worrying about at details and not starting as a result. The best advise I ever got when feeling this way was to just start anyway and fill in the details as you go. You'd be surprised how fluently your workflow gets once you get over that initial bump and start (most of the time the worry of starting goes away within ten minute).

It’s all good, Pokkuti. Your skill will shine through regardless, I’m sure. Just take your time, and don’t feel pressured to share anything you’re not ready to.

Check out Telepurte animations on youtube. He makes some sick animations with a simple black and white style. The most important thing in animation is how to get rid of the details you don't need in order to draw more frames without breaking your fingers. Frame rate is also something you wanna consider. Lots of animations are capped at 24 frames per second... But you can decide to go for lower. Like 12 frames per second. 12 fps, in black and white, with simple linearts is a managable work load for an animation of few seconds. You don't have to make every frame PERFECT, since each frame is only seen for 1/12 of second. So it's more about the perceived motion, rather than the static quality of the frames. It depends on the speed of the animation, also. If you want to animate something slow and big ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), 6 frames per second are good too (you can fit twice the detail per frame, or make your animation twice as long)

Just have fun and share what you want! I love it when artists have the freedom to experiment, it's one of the reasons I support people on Patreon.

There are two types of animations, one where you draw each frame and another when you have the whole drawing finished and you animated pieces of the body.

I've honestly been looking forward to your trying to animate something for years! I understand it is an entirely different process but I think you have the talent for it. Besides, you can't get better if you never try!

Oh, well, doubts in this matter are normal, it means that you have a responsible attitude to your work! Well done! I'm sure you can do it!
