It’s not all that surprising that some record stores refuse to carry Taylor or other major pop stars‘ records - a record store in and of itself is meant to be counter-cultural 😭 I actually have two local record stores, one is awesome and sells everything no matter what, the other is a little pretentious and doesn’t carry Taylor, let alone any other ”mainstream” shit. Walking in and not seeing a TS section is a red flag to me, because any record store that doesn’t carry taylor even knowing the kind of money they could make probably has a vendetta against her. She sold more vinyl last year than any other artist OF THE DECADE. NOT carrying her is for SURE a conscious choice.

Annoying and immature, yes. Pretentious, yes. Boneheaded, yes. Telling possible customers to ”go to Target” is such a slap in the face too, considering how record stores have struggled in the past!! Choosing not to carry her is your own business. Posting hissy fit shit like this and alienating customers is just bad business.

However, Swifties have now swarmed their reviews and knocked down their star rating on google and yelp. To me, this is even stupider. Like yes it’s bad business practice to behave like this, but it’s only going to hurt THEM in the long run. They’re still a small business and to me going after some mom and pop record shop in the name of near billionaire Taylor Swift is ummmm a bad look.

what do you guys think ?!

The fact they used 1989 art is a dead giveaway that they haven't actually listened to Taylor to decide whether or not they like her, but rather that they've heard Shake It Off and have built an image of her in their heads to hate forever. Tragic. Doesn't mean they should be slammed on Yelp/Google. The miserable people need somewhere to gather, let them have it. Let karma do the rest
