commenting again but i’m wondering how differently this may have turned out if gull never got involved, because hake himself was going to get permission from the tide. if he had spoken with trout privately she might have been able to fulfil tusk’s request without pressure from the family. but then gull had to go make a scene and now everyone knows about tusk’s situation that shouldn’t have been anyone’s business, and they are all expecting trout to do the ‘right thing’ by the tide, which ended up influencing her decision. won’t surprise me if that had been gull’s intention all along.

I feel like Tusk is going to quietly abscond from the Family once she's finally left alone so she can go bury her kit on her own terms. It'd be hard to sneak out with cats everywhere, but likely not impossible.
