Honestly I hate the walking dead shows so I’ll be skipping it.

Why bc I don’t like the shows. Neither did George Romero. It’s just a soap opera with zombies.

Woot!!! I can't wait!! 🤘🧟‍♀️🤘🙌🤠🖤👏

Not complaining but would like to know one day why AMC didn’t advertise TLDI Dead City for a month or longer ? Just a few days notice they are lucky any TLDI fans tuned in. Also let Joe bob and Darcy ramble/banter longer ! Maybe they can be more liberal on time if they let you guys host the season finale ??

Cross promotion is a delicate thing. AMC was trying to simultaneously increase the audiences for both shows by exposing cable subscribers unfamiliar with Joe Bob/Darcy to The Last Drive-In, and vice versa, albeit to a lesser degree as it stands to reason that fans of Joe Bob (ie, horror fans) are already acquainted (for good or ill) with The Walking Dead. But it's not unreasonable to try to bring back viewers who may have watched the series in the past and stopped for whatever reason. Thing is, it's tricky exposing people unfamiliar with Joe Bob's format to it for the first time because A) they probably didn't expect it, and B) when you're used to watching a show without interruptions there's a good chance that the average TV viewer isn't going to care for it. Thus, from a marketing perspective at least, it makes sense that you keep the breaks in the show to a minimum so as to reduce the degree of irritation of folks who aren't used to the interruptions. Of course, while trying not to annoy the people watching on cable with something they may not want to see, you simultaneously risk annoying fans of The Last Drive-In by minimizing their entire reason for watching. We like the movies they show, for sure, but the reality is that we watch for Joe Bob and Company's antics, and reducing their screen time was never going to be a popular one with existing fans of the show. They had to walk a very fine line with this venture, and they did they best they could within the framework they were required to follow. Hopefully the gambit bears fruit, and honestly, I think The Last Drive-In stands to gain more from it than AMC's cable numbers. I just hope TLDI crew wasn't too P.O.'d about being pigeon-holed into doing this, 'cause nobody likes having someone step into their project/livelihood and start telling them what to do and how to do it.

Excellent points and perspective . I want TLDI to live long and healthy so it’s probably a great trade off. Your right I try to get friends to watch it and they instantly think it’s annoying having someone interrupt the movies so they never try . Well one did who loves movies but is not into horror so much , he came over the night they showed Dead Heat and I said no worries next film is always the more interesting one . When cannibal holocaust came on I suggested we do something ends but he was like no let’s try it this sounds interesting ……. We stopped about 45 minutes into second feature lol he’s not come back for TLDI 😆 🐢. It’s a hard sell to uninitiated .
