April Large Story Poll (Patreon)

Hey guys and gals, how are you all doing? I’m finally done with Magic of the Force and now it is off to Stallion! However, those discerning folk among you should be able to see this leaves me with only six days to get the chapter finished. Argh. On the other hand, I have it about 2/3rds finished via Dragon Naturally Speaking already, so it will be out by the end of the month. On the other hand, I will not be able to get the next episode style version of Death’s Avenger out this month. It will however be out next month, as I will work on it while the Large Story Poll is going.

Sorry guys, I know March is often a pretty productive month for me, but I ran into problems almost immediately this month. First SBH. I love what I put out, but when I was writing the campaign, it was very difficult to get right. I was trying to do too much in terms of time, the campaign and several of the combat scenes… well, it was the first time in a while that I have had issues with the progression of a chapter. I mentioned that I have like, 14,000 words written that didn’t go into the chapter, and that is so true, and yet so wrong too. So disjointed and wait, when should this happen, and shouldn’t that happen first, and oh, you forgot this happened so this would happen instead, and what about the meeting with the King, oh and graaaa!! While it’s all useful, if I had tried to put it all in, with everything else I would have to add, I would have added at least another 20,000 words to the chapter total. Trying to stick a whole campaign in one chapter was just… wrong. In a large story it’s cool, but not when I already have a large story commitment that month.

Then from there, I had to segue from sword, sorcery and Ranma to sci-fi, Force techniques, and Harry. It wouldn’t have been too tough if it was also a big combat chapter, combat scenes are my bread and butter… only it wasn’t. So that took me still more time. Blargh, so many meetings. I love world-building, but... It didn’t help matters that when I tried to concentrate on HP, I started to have my thoughts veer to FILFy and ATP.  So again, I have something like eight thousand more words written initially for this chapter only it’s all disjointed and from two different scenes, one of which I looked at and thought, wait, the war’s only how old at this point? …Nope…

Anyway, there are two upsides to these issues going forward. First, I have decided that from now on, I will work on the Episode style chapter for you all first, while the Large Story Poll goes. The fandom of the episode style will offset the preceding month’s.  So this month we have two Ranma fics, which means Death’s Avenger. In the future that might change.

Because of this, the Patron Only Poll story will be moved to the last on the priority list. In the middle will be the Small Story Poll. That way, not only do you all get something near the beginning of the month, but I can post something in the middle of the month for my fans over on fanfic.  I will try to keep this format going forward rather than having everything random… (praying pose)

Anyway, with all that being said, here is the Large Story Poll for April. This will last until April 6th. That will give me time to both start on the winner and do the episode style. At that point I will post the Small Story Poll and the Patron Only poll.

A Third Path to the Future – HP/Marvel Crossover:  After checking in with his people, Harry and co. are approached by Deathbird, who want to recruit them. Harry and the others have to decide whether to go with it, or not, and make the final decision on whether or not to commit an act which, even in their own terms, is a war crime. But heavy hangs the head that wears the crown, and Harry, faced with the reality of the self-destructive, hateful pride and nihilism of the Shi’ar, prepare for the inevitable betrayal. Meanwhile, Emma and the others back on Earth are dealing with their own surprises and annoyances, as Emma’s luck turns foul, resulting in a hard shock to her body, and Captain America and Dr. Doom have a discussion, as Doom once more expands his reach into the solar system, making further deals with Emma and Sage, while a certain Doctor finally comes to grips with his green side. Meanwhile, a party back on the Shi’ar capital occurs but doesn’t go in any way that the locals or Harry could expect. Vanguard leads his team in, with disastrous results for the Shi’ar Empire as a whole. D’ken reaps the rewards for his various misdeeds at the hands of Havoc, while Harry, Jean and the magic users, do their part to make all information about them and Earth to disappear. Mission accomplished, the Custodes Mundi leave for earth, with a brief stopover as elsewhere, the next test for Humanity are moving in the dark of deep space.

Horse for the Force-Ranma/SW crossover:  An angered and frustrated Ranma decides to make a statement, inadvertently becoming a music video icon the Republic over while Shaak Ti decides she might have to defend her territory once more. Afterward, discussions are had, while work on the computer starts to see a few breakthroughs. Tyrannus attempts to gather more ships to attack the system, but find it isn’t all that easy, since the Republic has begun to bounce back elsewhere, despite not having enough ships to do it. Kashyyyk and other allies of the Jedi are targeted, while more reinforcements arrive, turning Wayland into a fortress. Ranma and Shaak are requested to help break an assault on a Jedi Agri-world, before being recalled in order to learn even more of what Wayland’s computers can tell them. Meanwhile, Sidious finalizes his escape plan, Harch launches an attack and Thrawn arrives, finding he has to prove his abilities to the Republic High Command before being given the command he wishes. The remaining ships of the Katana fleet arrive in Corellia, where work begins to turn them into modern ships, and, as Ranma and Shaak once more leave Wayland to follow up on a single specific piece of information, a traitor among the Jedi makes himself known, before Anakin proves that yes, he really is good at electronics, much to the chagrin of the Sith.
