Hey all! As those of you who read my author’s forward should know, I won’t be able to get Stallion finished by Tomorrow. I…might be able to get everything but the last two scenes done by midnight tonight (doubtful), but none of it would have been edited by either Tomon – who has been a major help on this story since the beginning – or Hiryo, who as you all should know is a help on every Ranma fic given time. So It won’t be out until next month. Instead, I decided to share this with you, along with the previous RWBY only outline Jaune of All Trades.

A lot of people have asked me over the years if I would ever try to make a story crossing Ranma with Harry Potter. My response has always been they are too different in how they go about being protagonists, and I would have to put one above the other, and that their worlds are a little too different too. Now, while the second issue hasn’t been magically (Hah, I made a punny) changed, Sword, Bow and Horse has worked to give me some experience in double -protagonist stories. I also have started to see the positives of such stories as a whole, and decided to see what I could come up with.   Once again though, it will be a long time, if ever, before I get to this story.

Chaotic Pottery:

Hearing news of a boxing competition in Britain that is paying out a cool million pounds and obviously wanting to be set up for life, Genma takes Ranma there instead of heading on a final back-backing trip through China. Taking a plane over Russia, and dragging the boy away from making new friends (read: rivals and strange girls) the two of them arrive in London just in time for the tournament. After winning it handily, Ranma comes back to their room to find his old man unconscious from drinking. In his inebriated state, Genma lets slip the Name Soun and the word engagement. Deciding nuts to that, Ranma leaves and starts to explore London.

As he explores London, he finds a young boy with glasses and overlarge clothing running away from a group of other boys. About to intervene, he finds his interest piqued when the bow apparently is able to do something that makes peoples eyes want to slide off him. Startled by a boy leaping down from the top of a roof as easily as someone could hop over a log, the boy let goes of the technique too soon, and his bullies find him. Ranma then explains to them why bullying is wrong, before introducing himself to the kid, whose name is Harry Potter.

Harry explains that he doesn’t know how he did that, but that sometimes odd things have happened around him before. He can talk to garden snakes, he can grow his hair back overnight, and he can sometimes hide from people and even once changed the color of something. Ranma, intrigued, asks some more questions, during which Harry explains about his home life, and the fact his parents died.

“Right… young practical orphan, left with his hateful relatives…”

“Er, I wouldn’t say they were hateful…”

“Look me in the eye boyo and tell me they ain’t?” Pausing, Ranma smirked when Harry didn’t say anything. “Right. As I was saying. Weird powers, random but seemingly impossible things. Yeah, I’ve read enough manga to know where this is going kiddo. So… how about we give the finger to Fate and your relatives both, and blow this popsicle stand?”

“What?”

“Run away kiddo. You, and me. Me to get away from being married off to feed my old man’s fat mug, and you from your relatives.”

After some convincing, Harry agrees that maybe there really could be some kind of connection between the weird events he’s experienced. And learning how to fight and fend for himself while traveling with Ranma certainly sounds a heck of a lot more interesting than going back home. “And maybe I can even teach you how to speak proper English Yank.”

“Oy!”

And so begins Ranma and Harry’s world tour, upsetting the plans of Fate, an old man, and a fat drunk. However, Fate is not so easily avoided…

{battle of endurance and durability in every form you could name. Ranma not landing nearly as many blows, but just keep going, through everything!! – Ranma using Wyper’s Reject after he does the same to break him out of a full body gold trap? Couldn’t control the gold, but could control the heat, the melted gold would go where the heat directed}

Things this fic will contain:

1. Dual Protags. As I said above, this fic will feature a Ranma and Harry who will share the spotlight and adventures. Ranma has a tendency to attract trouble, Harry a tendency to be it’s target. Both have a saving people thing, although Ranma’s is based on his code, and Harry’s is based off him being Harry Potter. A lot of the stories first few chapters will be about them interacting with one another.

a. Harry is about a month shy of eleven, and will start the story scrawny, malnourished, but a bit more perspicacious than he was in canon at this point. Eventually, he will be molded by being around Ranma to being a lot more athletic and built, quite sarcastic, and self-reliant, but he will never be as outgoing or as confident in social situations as Ranma. After all, it is hard to just not give as many fucks as Ranma can. However, he will be a lot more independent, while also be more willing even than in canon to toss himself into a fight. With Ranma’s training, he’ll also be able to fight his way back out

b. Ranma is about fifteen at the start of this fic. He will be aggressive in physical confrontations, really arrogant, and will still have a lot of the baggage his old man saddled him with about women being weaker and boys never crying. Harry will have about as much influence on him mentally and emotionally though as Ranma does Harry physically. It will be a much slower process, but eventually Ranma will get to the point where he understands that women can be as strong as men. If they put in the time anyway. Looking before he leaps/opens his mouth though, that Harry won’t be able to help with, considering his own problems in that area.

2. World travel. For at least the first six chapters or so (depending on large/small chapter story status) Harry and Ranma will be travelling the world. They will be doing so in order to both stay ahead of Genma, and because Dumbledore will try to show up and will have made a horrible first impression on them both when he notices that the wards on the Dursley’s house have broken. Eventually they will also be searching out for people who can teach them more about Harry’s odd problems without being governmental figures, since both by that point will have assumed there’s some kind of conspiracy to keep Harry ignorant and weak.  Ranma will essentially have assumed by the time they reach Italy that Harry is some hero-in-being and has to become strong to fight the powers that be.

a. Complete refusal to let Harry use a wand: Ranma will have seen Dumbledore use his wand but will utterly reject the idea of Harry ‘needing’ one for his magic. As such he will force Harry to use magic without one, a much harder but somewhat more rewarding road to magical power. On the other hand, Dumbledore will be pondering the fact that a muggle has become master of the Death Stick…

b. Problems and conflicts abound. Wherever Ranma and Harry go they will get in trouble, both with the local criminal element and with the authorities, because Ranma at this point hasn’t learned the phrase ‘go along to get along’ and Harry likes to stick his nose in where it doesn’t belong.  These problems will include but not be limited to:

i. Meeting and befriending a group of tourists in France for the first time during a robbery.

ii. Stopping a kidnapping… multiple times. Seriously, it will be like a curse for Harry to basically stumble into them. One in France, one in India, one in Greece, another in Russia…

iii. Accidentally defacing a national monument in Germany while stopping a corrupt cop from shooting his partner.

iv. Ryoga showing up and helpfully trying to push a certain Leaning Tower straight after fight with Ranma.

v. Smashing a smuggling ring of magical chocolate that has literal addictive properties.

vi. Stomping all over an attempt to assault a Sphinx who was just minding her own business.

c. Learning abounds as well. Ranma will instill an urge to learn about his abilities into Harry, even if he also somewhat accidentally blocks him from getting that education the normal way.  Both of them will be learning as they travel in various ways.

i. Ranma incorporating local martial arts, particularly weapons styles, into his own repertoire. He will teach himself ki space, and will also start to ‘Pull a Gilgamesh’, in the number of weapons he has in there. After all, why limit yourselves to just your fists and feet if you have other options available.

ii. Harry will do the same with magic, while raiding every magical bookstore his ability to ignore muggle-oriented notice me nots can drag him to, becoming something of a magical thief. He will also be learning about element type magics transfiguration and illusion. Basically Harry’s imagination will begin to power his magical abilities, fueled by the people he runs into, his purloined books, and the fantasy novels Ranma introduces him to.

d. Whole lot of new magic. I’d really like to play around with magic in this world, even more so than in my other works.  At the same time, Ranma will make it his life’s work to prove ki and good old fashioned fists can do anything magic can. Or at least make you immune to what it can’t..

3. Fate Always finds a way. Run all they want, some things can’t be denied.  Some challenges, some changes.

a. Ranma will be cursed, as well as Harry. I am uncertain if Ranma will have the same curse as in canon. The gender will probably stay the same, but I might change other things. After all, it won’t just be his overweening masculinity and opinions that will need to be changed by that point. As for Harry, no idea. Perhaps an Asian style dragon? – Something to make Ranma eternally jealous anyway.

b. Ryoga. He will pop up occasionally, always causing both trouble and amusement for our intrepid duo. As well as issues for the magical community, who will call him ‘the wandering Obscurial’ although he won’t actually be one. It’s just due to how much damage he can do.

c. Harry will have an early run-in with a certain undead shade who will promptly learn that shade or not being struck by a ki attack – developed in Africa – HURTS.

d. Trouble coming home to roost. Issues that Ranma’s father will have caused, some after chasing after the boy from London on, will eventually catch up with the two boys. And so will Harry running away from the wizarding world authorities, and of course, their numerous, if accidental breaking of the statute of secrecy.

4. Eventually redeemed Dumbledore. Despite his horrible initial introduction, Dumbledore will not actually be a bad guy in this work. He will be woefully ignorant of the non-wizarding world, but won’t be alone in that. He will have his normal horrible fashion sense.  But he will also be an incredibly busy person who always believes there is good in people until convinced otherwise. He will, after investigating the Dursleys, give his metaphorical blessing to Harry becoming a world traveler for a time, and then something of a mentor when they meet in Hogwarts and he apologizes for his aforementioned horrible first impression.

5. Genma is still Genma, alas. Yeah… Genma will not be happy about hi meal ticket just up and leaving him, especially after Ranma signs his fat stomach with the words ‘engagement no I won’t go’ in permanent ink. The panda eyes were just mean in his opinion. He will be after Ranma and continually catch up to them only to lose them while attempting to get rid of Harry, who he thinks is a bad influence on Ranma or dead weight. It varies.

6. Early Nodoka sighting. In an effort to help find the two boys once Harry has turned thirteen, Dumbledore will do some research into this odd Ranma Saotome person. He will find his parents, and remembering his own run ins with Genma (yes he will have them, yes they will be funny) Dumbledore will reach out to the small Japanese magical community, which will be full of… characters to say the least. Despite that, they will help him find Nodoka, who will help to convince Ranma and Harry that no, there is no gigantic government conspiracy in the magical world that Harry is destined to fight. He might be destined for other things though. And whether or not  they believe him is up in the air.

a. Nodoka’s opinions on manliness will not change. If anything they will be exacerbated by the history of the two boys and the need to combat Ranma’s curse form (whatever it is). She will also be a bit grandbaby crazy.

b. On the other hand, she will also be loving, intelligent, able to give out hugs and teach the boys at least a little bit about romance, standing up for yourselves without the use of violence (never a Ranma specialty) and be the voice of calm reason that by this point both boys will need whether they realize it or not.

7. Magic and Ki are not the same. As mentioned above, they will be very different. Ranma will try to figure out how to us his ki to passively block or imitate magic in many ways. Harry in turn will try to make his magic as versatile as ki can be in terms of direct combat and body enhancement, with limited results.  On the other hand, ki will have some interesting effects on the undead and Dark creatures, enough to make Ranma cackle and Harry pout in jealousy.

8. Hogwarts! Eventually.  I would like to avoid the first year, entirely, and to shift the second year around quite a bit. After all, what would that year be like if there was no Lockhart, but two somewhat competing Dark Lords? Could be amusing to see if Dairy Riddle didn’t like the fact Old Riddle was a wraith.

9. Riddle the Great Evil? More like the Mini Me of Evil. Essentially by the time Riddle attempts to resurrect himself, Harry and Ranma will have dealt with a lot more villains out there, who, if not able to match him in power, certainly had their own thoughts on world domination, evil magic, and swiping candy from babies. Essentially the biggest problem for our duo will be to identify the people working with Riddle rather than actually dealing with them. It’s awful hard to use spells if your arms are shattered from the shoulder down or Harry has used his special “NutCracker Spell’. Riddle himself will still be a challenge, but not his followers at all.

10. Pairings:

a. Harry/Hermione/Padma/Ukyo, maybe one more, possibly Nabiki. She could be utterly enamored of Harry’s abilities, she could be a muggleborn herself (and ooh boy wouldn’t Akane be pissed at that. Petunia X 2 anyone?)  Padma and her sister will have been a few of the kidnap victims Harry rescued. Ukyo and Harry will bond over food and cooking, and will have met accidentally without knowing one another’s connection to Ranma so will have gained good impressions of one another before Ranma comes into the discussion. Hermione will have been Harry’s first friend, and someone he corresponds with practically every week after he accidentally used magic in front of her to save her and her parents from a robbery. Hermione in turn will be very interested in Harry’s abilities, even if they tear her away from her books, and while not enjoying how physical Ranma’s training and abilities are, will at least be appreciative of the yummy muscles Harry develops due to that training. As will the other girls

b. Ranma/Tonks. Because holy hell would this pairing be fun to write. Ranma/Fleur, another kidnapping victim, although their relationship will be more tumultuous. Ranma/Shampoo is also a possibility, but I don’t know if it would be a permanent thing or a pure body attraction get me the hell out of this village thing.

c. ‘love’ interests. Both boys will have girls after them in typical Ranma fashion rather than actual love interests as the above. This will include a Sphinx who wants to be loved, a Gorgon who thinks Harry’s the sexiest thing to slither, a Harpy who won’t take no for an answer, various human women of all ages including Mrs. Malfoy, who wants to lure the extremely hunky and comical yet deadly Ranma to the dark side. Her husband won’t be too happy about that of course, even if he flaunts their marital vows on a monthly basis. And each of the others will also bring with them suitors who become rivals for both boys. Mostly of the comedic Kuno level variety, but some who will be very serious, including a Mousse who will be furious at Ranma for stealing his schtick and his girl both.

So there you have it, my take on a Harry/Ranma crossover.

Once again, my thanks and prayers go out to anyone on the frontline dealing with this epidemic. Hope you all enjoyed this, and are staying safe and healthy. And as always, I look forward to what you think of this idea.

Bryan Brown

Missed this idea too. Could be good.

Master Kuma

I hope you do this one soon, great ideas and with your writing it’s bound to be awesome ! And as always thanks for your work.

Petteri Antikainen

Certainly sounds promising. Like most of your ideas, it has great potential and I would personally love to read your take on this rare combination. The potential for shenanigans alone would be enough sell the story for me.

Rapthorn2ndform

I like this idea. I'm not the biggest fan of ranma but I've read your Star Wars, One Piece and some of Fairy Tail crossovers and enjoyed them enough to keep reading (except FT, don't like FT that much either) so that alone would get me to at least look at another ranma story. Your Harry Potter stories are why I'm a patron. Specifically Magic of the force but also the epic length Xmen crossover. So a crossover between the franchise I enjoy the most and the one I only bother with because you write it so well... yes, please.

Diego D'Andrea

This story has immense potential. I hope that after getting rid of the current fiction, this is your new project.

Hiryo

Alone the description is already PLATIN!

Tellemicus Sundance

Hahahahah! As is usually the case for most of your work, I find myself REALLY looking forward to this potential story!! I love and agree with many of the ideas. But I think I may also have something to OFFER you this time, if you're so inclined to check it out. I've actually written a story that has a lot of these same elements in it: world touring martial artists, accidental Secrecy disruptions, missing BWL, ki vs chi (magic), and new magic. It's my "Magic Revolution" story on Fanfic. If you're so inclined, I'd recommend you check out Chapter 3 specifically as it lists a bunch of 'crimes' that the boys had committed over the past few years. Maybe you'll get a few ideas? Anyway, self-advertising aside, as I said, I would HAPPILY read this story as well when/if you write it! And I'm REALLY interested in seeing how much more you could develop your skills by writing dual protags like that!

Teraseneste

Okay, I'm 100% male, and even I have to say it... SQUEE!!! You have several works that I am already in love with, several that I'm not, and this sounds like it could easily go onto the first group. I think you have a great idea here and am looking forward to the day you start it, though I am wondering if you will simply make it one more thing to work on or if you will find something to either finish or drop. Good Luck!!!

Jonathan Wesson

Ok out of the two ideas that you are thinking of putting out, both this and the pure RWBY fic, this is the much more interesting idea. When ever I read your fics, the first thing that I appreciate is the uniqueness of the stories... and fair does this is an idea that has been done in one way or another before, but I'm 100% sure that you will put that unique twist on this. So I'm looking forward to this and possibly voting for it in the future.

Alastor God of Vengeance

Definitely sounds interesting, hope you can add this to the lineup eventually.

zagan

Could be fun indeed, looking forward to it whenever it may come.

This sounds super fun. I am always a fan of an expanded magic world that is actually magical, instead of making magic normal and boring (regulated) magic is supposed to be "holy shit that was awesome" you know, magical ! ( ha puns are awesome )

Jamie Celtic

This sounds really cool all it needs is a soundtrack

Legomir172

sounds awesome!

Matthew London

I love the whole thing! Definitely Needs a Soundtrack!

JbstormburstADV

I'm definitely behind this idea as soon as we see some space in your workload free up. This and "An Aunt's Touch" are definitely the ones I am stanning for.

Andrew Seegebarth

i love the idea the curse could be permant one a Gold Diggers style werecat due to the neko ken

Wesley

I am very behind this idea! It sounds like fun! Once your current line up of stories gets some room at least.

Lord Forrest

I like this, I like this a lot. Shame that it won't be happening anytime soon though.

Hiryo

As for monster girls interest, you always could have them be from 'Monster Musume' ^^

Althalus

This sounds like it would be a fun read. Would love for this to be your next story to be worked on

Questara

What's that phrase: "Take my money!"

Elderlucian

This sounds like a fun read to me. If you do 4 girls for Harry and aren't set on an even split from HP and Ranma then I feel obligated to suggest Luna as the 4th.

Dark

Magnificetn and fun!

Alamar Xandal

A Ranma/ Harry crossover is a Harry story that I would look forward to.

Kariston Draconis

There, you see? You can do it. I knew you had it in you. A few things I would like to throw in there, though. 1) Ranma's curse: May I suggest "Spring of Drowned Veela", especially given that you're going with Fleur as one of Ranma's girls? This has the potential for much fun. 2) Personally, I've never really been a fan of Shampoo, so I'd be leaning more towards the "pure body attraction get me the hell out of this village" thing that doesn't last, but still leads to the Ranma Vs Mousse "Unlimited Blade Works/Gate of Babylon" showdown? 3) I'd like to suggest a further pairing here, as well. Sirius/Nodoka. No, really, think about it. This version of Genma is gonna have pulled alot more shit, on an international scale, so Nodoka is gonna have no choice but to divorce him in order to preserve the good name of the Saotome clan, which he married into. Heck, with assistance from the Japanese magical community, they could make it seem like it was filed years ago. And hey, what could be Manlier than breaking out of a supposedly inescapable prison in order to protect your godson?

Druid

I became interested in this story when I read how you planned to portray Dumbledore, as I don't usually care for your renditions of him in the past. This one I can endure in the beginning, and enjoy as the story move along. Ranma/Tonks? Yes please. :) Ranma creating his own version of the Gate of Babylon, that sounds like all kinds of fun. Heck, a cameo of either Shiro, or the Fate Grand Order ADFB version of Gilgamesh would be awesome. A probably unnecessary nitpick which someone may have already noted, but I'd imagine you meant flout, not flaunt when referring to Malfoy Sr. and his infidelity.

Michael Carlson

Would love to read this story. I also think Kariston Draconis has the right idea for Ranma's curse, seeing ranma deal with turning into a veela with a splash of cold water would be hilarious.

Friendly Neighborhood Eldritch Horror

Don't really like elements of this, although it's hard to say why for some of them, I can give some details. Harry is too young, or maybe, strangely, too old (compared to when Ranma started the training trip and learning martial arts) for me to see Ranma willing to help him run away and keep an eye on him, especially after a relatively brief meeting, even if Harry is being mistreated. Ranma also seems to jump to conclusions too quickly about Harry's relatives the way you describe it. Ranma also doesn't seem the sort to jump to a 'conspiracy' kind of angle with such relatively little prompting. A possible way to fix it might actually be for them both to wander off after the bullies to get away from relatives they upset with to have a bit of fun, using some cash Ranma took from Genma's pack, and stumble into the Lovegoods, who, having abilities similar to Harry, and talking of conspiracies, would put the idea in their heads. World Travel, both their ages will make trouble here. They don't have simple magical resources or money to enable things, and don't have things like the right sort of passports and the like, and unlike Genma, Ranma is likely to actually care about the language barrier if put in charge nominally as the eldest. The Lovegoods putting the idea of conspiracies into their heads could actually be useful here, if they can get some hints of how things work in the magical world, and perhaps a subscription to the Quibbler somehow (maybe a 'free lifetime subscription' they could be gifted after some minor heroics they stumble into early on?), which would help fuel paranoia, but give just enough hints of details about the magical world for them to stumble into something like finding out where to get some kind of magical means to learn langauages quickly, like a special potion, or perhaps make contact with contributors to the Quibbler from around the world they go to meet to investigate conspiracies who also serve as interpretors for them. They'll still need disguises due to their ages, Ranma could perhaps find a way to pass as a short adult, and perhaps Harry could end up faking being a goblin disguised as a child for purposes of being out among muggles, and some random crazy Quibbler subscribers and contributors could help them get set up for travel purposes early on, and later on they'd stumble into help from people they save under false identities. What Ranma does once Harry goes to Hogwarts seems unclear. The timing also denies Ranma a lot of his best canon techniques and conspires to make him a relatively unfamiliar character, as with Harry. Because of this, I'll offer an alternate idea. Ranma is post-curse, but pre-visiting the Amazon village. A traveling witch or wizard harvesting rare potions ingredients stumbles upon Ranma chasing Genma in anger after they are cursed, and saves Ryoga from being cursed in Jusenkyo with a wand flick, tries to scold Ranma and Genma for endangering a bystander in regards to the curses. Ranma recognizes Ryoga and is actually apologetic, but Genma ran off due to not listening the calls of the caster and them not managing to do something like spell him, partly not thinking he wasn't a real panda until they thought about his speed a bit and how Ranma was chasing him. Ryoga is angry about Ranma missing their fight, and doesn't recognize Ranma at first, thinking her a random girl, and the witch or wizard figures out Ranma is a Jusenkyo victim, and takes them to the guide's hut for Ranma to get hot water, and Ryoga promptly freaks out about almost having been cursed horribly, and while he almost wants to fight Ranma then and there for their missed match, he is convinced by the witch/wizard and Ranma that doing so near Jusenkyo probably isn't a good idea. By this point, Ryoga's sense of direction has become obvious to the magic user, and a bit of explaination from Ranma and a little spellcasting confirms it's a curse of some sort, although they have no idea about where it came from, or why it's on a muggle lineage, from the sound of it regarding Ryoga's family, since they are both cursed, they can know about magic and the statue of secrecy, since neither of the curses can easily be cured, and the Chinese wizard is aware ki users are a bit of a gray area in the statue anyway even if they did get cured. After a little more discussion about curses, they reveal that the biggest experts on curse removal in the world are the curse breaking wizards who work for Gringotts, a goblin bank in England, who go around to ancient tombs and stuff the muggles are likely to discover and clear out magic from them, or hide them more securely to prevent muggle discovery, and keep track of muggle institutions that do digs and stuff and what sites they plan to visit to deal with them beforehand. Unfortunately, even they aren't guarenteed to be able to break any curse, familial curses like Ryoga's are known to be quite difficult, and the cost of their services can be quite high, and Jusenkyo curses in this day and age are rare enough outside of local tribes who use them deliberately for various reasons, for there to be little effort in researching them, especially compared to things like the werewolf curse, which so far has eluded a cure and has far more victims around the world, but it still mgiht be their best hope. Ryoga really wants his family's curse cured, and begs Ranma to help him get to the UK, pressuring him over missing the match and apparantly almost getting him doubly cursed, and Ranma is eager to get rid of this girl form as well, so isn't particularly unwilling. Genma turns up, and wants otherwise, willing to check with the local tribes first to see if they have a cure, but wanting to head right back to Japan if that fails, for reasons he won't disclose. This causes a fight between him and Ranma that Ryoga jumps into as well, catching Genma off guard, and annoying the witch/wizard enough with the again fighting near Jusenkyo, and they stun the somewhat unbalanced Genma, then head off to finish their ingredient gathering, not really interested in getting any furthur involved, other than not wanting the fight to potentially cause them to risk getting a curse themselves from a splash or something. Ranma goes through Genma's pack, partly for money and his passport, and manages to discover some communications with Soun, and decides to head off with Ryoga without Genma even more solidly, not wanting to be engaged against his will, especially not while cursed to be a girl part-time. They don't have the supplies to get out of the area, but are given directions by a reluctant and worried Jusenkyo guide to the Amazons, and warned a little about their laws, since without Genma awake to bluster against worrying about dangers, and Ranam concerned about having heard about the local tribes using the cused pools for stuff made him a bit worried. They run off to the Amazons, after stuffing some booze down the unconcious Genma's throat to hopefully keep him out longer, or at least have a headache and take longer to go after them due to a hangover after he wakes up. While in the Amazon village, they arrive at least a day before the tournament (due to not having stuck around with the guide as long as canon Ranma and Genma would have, what with Genma almost making Ryoga soup and the time Ranma spent chasing Genma around in anger before they returned to the guide for help) and are able to seek to purchase supplies and get better directions, and Ranma's curse is revealed to the locals by accident early on, and they explain their reason for traveling, and wind up finding out the tribe has some of their own magic users, and due to their isolation and widespread ki users, they're allowed to somewhat skirt the statue of secrecy, and can help the boys travel magically to the UK, since they have some people who are headed there anyway for trade purposes, related to magical supplies that grow in different places, trading Chinese potions ingredients and wand wood and such for ones from Europe. Ranma and Ryoga finally have their sparring match, now that they are away from the dangers of Jusenkyo, which catches Cologne's attention due to their talents. When Cologne hears about Ranma's falling out with his father, and trying to escape a forced engagement, she is quite amused, but she becomes irritated after a bit more questioning reveals the name of his martial arts style, which she'd found vaguely familiar, and realizes comes from Happosai. A bit more questioning leads her to conclude Happosai doesn't seem to be involved anymore, and while Genma might have been his student, Ranma wasn't, but she does want to correct some of the bad ideas about women Genma seems to have instilled, and realizes her best chance of doing so might be to teach Ranma a bit and show off her own power some, so she decides to come along for the trip to England, and bringing with her one of Shampoo's cousins, who is younger, and still one of Cologne's decendants, and is a magical, and could do with seeing a foreign country for the first time, partciularly seeing how they trade with them. (maybe Sue Li from Harry Potter setting could be apparantly from the Chinese Amazons who would later end up trained at Hogwarts to bring back some foreign magical techniques?) They arrive in the UK after multiple rounds of walking and taxi or bus rides or the like between arranged portkey points, and have a lot of trouble keeping Ryoga from wandering off. Cologne using phone calls to keep in contact with Shampoo regarding the tournament and making sure one of the other elders is willing to share the memories of it via the tribe's pensive. Cologne gives Ranma the talk in the context of now being a girl at least for a while, and enough details not to make a fool of herself and draw undue attention in public while in girl form, pointing out how they are unsure how long it would take for curses to be cured, if they can even arrange it, and that knowing it might be useful to Ranma to better treat a future wife if he ever does fall in love, since he clearly claims he wants to marry who he chooses and fall in love rather than be married off by his father's choice, turning Ranma's own claims against his embarrasment at the topics involved. This helps correct some of the minimal stuff Ranma got previously on the topics even as a boy, given his sketchy public education records and Genma's unreliability on actual parenting. Cologne also manages to prove her strength to the boys, after making it clear she isn't eligible for curse of marrige/death stuff at her age to convince them to spar with her, although she does admit that while she considers them both strong, Ryoga would probably be unfit as an Amazon's husband if his own lost curse isn't cured, she notes that Ranma seems like he might be a potentially worthy husband to a good Amazon girl in a teasing sort of way, to get them a bit riled up and have fun with messing with the youngsters. Her distant grandchild she brought expresses a 'boys are gross' kind of sentiment due to age as part of involved reactions, much to the amusement of the adult Amazons present. They soon make it to Gringotts, most of the money Ranma nabbed from Genma's pack is used up just to get a consultation, besides the stuff they'd already used for supplies on Ranma's end, and Ryoga is able to withdrawl some money from a family bank account he knows how to access which is properly set up for international use given just HOW lost his family can get. Gringotts is unable to help at all, quick analysis reveals too complex and potent of curses for a easy fix, and the schedules of curse breakers competent enough to stand a chance are fully booked or dedicated to more serious things for the ones willing to do charity work on the side, and the costs to adjust schedules to get someone working on it (which isn't a guarentee of a cure and would likely take at least months, and likely years, given the detected power and complexity) would be frankly ridiculous, given they'd be competing with profits from looting tombs full of gold and powerful magical artifacts and the like, and Ranma and Ryoga are quite upset. Ryoga winds up wandering off while Ranma is distracted, but manages to call the hotel they are staying at via a pay-phone all the way in Surrey. Ranma isn't particularly surprised Ryoga managed to get so far just trying to get himself some lunch from the hotel lobby, and tells Ryoga to stay put while he goes to find him. Ranma soon manages to make it to Surrey, and stumbles upon rescuing Harry from Harry Hunting, like you suggested, but unlike your suggestion, recognizes the magic involved in Harry's side of things, and talks to him a bit about it, and the statue of secrecy, since Harry is curious about Ranma's perceptions of him being a wizard, and Ranma soon realizes Harry didn't know about things. Ranma calls the Amazons about it a bit to question how that works, and has muggleborns explained to him and Harry, and the Hogwarts age, but the Amazons don't hear about Harry's name to realize the whole Harry Potter thing, regardless of if they'd actually know or care due to not being natives of the UK, or even Europe, but it's a bit of reassurance on Ranma's part that he didn't screw up by telling some random kid wizard who wasn't in on the secret. Harry is a bit dissapointed, as he doubts the Dursleys would let him go to magical school if they found out, but is too ashamed to mention this to Ranma. Ranma gets directions from Harry to the payphone Ryoga was supposed to be at, and goes off to drag Ryoga back to the hotel. Ryoga just expresses frustration, but is willing to follow Ranma back if only for the Amazons to help him get back to Japan, or maybe just China, he doesn't care at this point. They run into Harry again while on their way to a bus stop to head back to London, and chat a bit, and Ranma's curse is accidentally revealed, and Ranma brings up Ryoga's to avoid being the sole target of interest from Harry after they run off from the sprinklers before the muggles might notice so they don't potentially get in trouble, as Ranma isn't sure how the statue of secrecy stuff works entirely, especially not in the UK, which the Amazons had mentioned was stricter about such things than 'the East', and unlike Genma, Ranma doesn't want to jump to just blatantly ignoring the law, especially not in front of a random impressionable kid. Harry is facinated to hear about and have seen in action some more magic, even if he's a bit upset to hear about it in the form of troubling curses, and that they couldn't get cured, and wants to be able to hear more. Ranma decides to give Harry a phone number he can leave messages for the Amazons with, and Ryoga one he can leave messages at Ryoga's house with, in leui of alternate contact options, although Ranma warns the Amazons might not be keen on it, Ranma will try to leave a contact method with them for at least a while for Harry's sake and see if he can't answer some of his questions, but both of them mostly go on a bit about martial arts as a means of self-defense from bullies, although Harry points out he has nowhere to learn such from, and doesn't have the money, or being allowed by the Dursleys, to pull such off either way, which Ranma and Ryoga are both stumped by. Ranma and Ryoga make it back to China with ease, and Cologne winds up giving Ryoga training in the breaking point, and Ranma training in Amaguriken, as a reward of sorts for being pack mules for parts of the trip, and to help alliviate their depression, and potentially bait Ranma into considering an Amazon marriage for the chance to pick up more of the techniques. It is a bit harder for them than it would have been in canon, as they both aren't quite as far along in their training, but they are close enough, especially after some spars with Cologne and tips during their training from her, and lots of sparring between each other. Ryoga doesn't care to get help back to Japan due to his depression, and not really caring to get furthur help from the Amazons this way at this point, partly because they'd also charge him for it, and just wanders off after making sure his supplies are topped up, planning to train on the road. Ranma, on the other hand, gets cornered by Genma, who got shown the way by the guide, and is surprised Genma is able to beat him despite the newfound speed and skill, realizing his father had been holding back more than he'd thought, although it was closer than Genma would have liked. Cologne doesn't feel it right to interfere on Ranma's behalf in the face of his actual biological father, and lets Genma drag Ranma off to head back to Japan. Harry calls the Amazons to find the contact info for Ranma, when attempts to call Ryoga fail, Ranma has a pen address to communicate with the Amazons, and a phone number they can be contacted at, but hasn't left a new contact point, and Cologne winds up talking with Harry a bit after hearing about the situation, and telling him she is sure Ranma will contact them soon and she'll relay his desire for contact. Harry is depressed because he realizes it is pointless since he can't very well give the Dursleys' number, and he's calling from a payphone with spare change he found on the streets, and they can't really talk long due to the distant call on a pay phone thing. Ranma has a bunch of fights with Genma on their way out of China, aruging over the engagement, and Genma convinces Ranma to at least meet the Tendo girls to reduce the fights and stop Ranma trying to run away as much. The initial meeting with the Tendo sisters goes much as canon, and Ranma sneaks off that night after Soun and Genma get a bit drunk together due to Ranma encouraging them by sneaking into a neighbor's house and opening some booze and wafting the smell over the wall to make the fathers think about it, and then brinigng up the question about them having used to train together to get them reminicing about old times. Nabiki and Kasumi question Ranma when they recognize his intentions with the fathers, and wind up agreeing to let Ranma try to run off, since it's clear they all think this engagement thing is dumb at this point, and don't really care about Ranma enough to make sure he is a good boy, and think their father might be less willing to try to force this on them even if Genma does force Ranma back if Ranma shows irresponsibility like this. Ranma winds up heading to Ryoga's house to hide out a bit while planning furthur travels, and maybe see if Ryoga is there, and winds up finding Harry's message, and making sure Shirokuro has good food supplies and such, and leaves a message for Ryoga about the visit, and spends the night there. Ryoga turns up the next morning, to Ranma's surprise, and they have a bit of a fight, but not too serious of one, and Ranma has the idea to get away from Genma by _allowing_ Ryoga to lead him somewhere to get lost more seriously. Ryoga is reluctant, thinking Ranma is taking advantage of him, but hearing about the arranged marriage again from Ranma and how the meeting with the Tendo sisters went, he is barely convinced, if only to protect the girls from Ranma's jerkishness is how he expresses the idea, much to Ranma's annoyance, and only if Ranma helps him keep the house for another couple days, re-stocking the long-term food pantry and such, and helping clean the house. Ranma agrees, with a tight deadline in case Genma thinks to look there at Ryoga's place for him, and helps Ryoga out as requested with the Hibiki household. Ryoga also hears the message from Harry, and is thinking about it a bit with Ranma on their way out of the house. Ranma knows some English from training near a US military base for a while on the training trip at one point, perhaps in this story, at least for speaking, but not for reading and writing properly. Ranma and Ryoga wander Japan for a bit under 'guidance' from Ryoga's getting-lost-ness, dodging Genma's attempts to track down Ranma, and manage to stumble upon Hinako, who tries to force them to attend school properly, and manages to defeat them with her draining techniques. While she somewhat convinces Ryoga better than Ranma, Ryoga promptly gets lost, and Ranma explains about that to Hinako, as well as Ranma's Jusenkyo curse, to excuse their schooling issues, on top of the running away from the arranged marriage on his part. Hinako isn't impressed, and tries to talk Ranma into taking school seriously, or at least education if nothing else, after initial failings, and winds up stumbling into figuring out the one who saved her life and taught her to drain energy, if at the cost of her age shifting, was someone who practiced the same martial arts style as the Saotome and Tendo families. Realizing Ranma can probably escape as soon as she stops keeping a close eye on him, and she's failed to fully convince him, she at least convinces him to try a distant learning thing, and gives him her contact info to arrange to get schoolwork and grading through her, offering to have him trust her at least this much as a fellow practitioner of anything goes, and one who she has defeated in combat, with a belated 'terms of the match' of sorts, being to finish high school through the distant learning course she'll distant tutor him in, and in exchange, she won't share how to contact him with his father if his father manages to track her down through Ranma's school records still turning up with Ranma's progress, and will try to convince him to stop the arranged marriage if Genma does find her. Ranma isn't particularly impressed with Hinako's martial arts, but at least recognizes that she has ki based skills that might really be related to the same fighting style, after she tells him a bit about what she remembers about Happosai and how he moved and some of his martial arts philosphy he'd mentioned to her (she avoids mentioning some of what she now realizes was him tricking her into helping him do perverted stuff to the nurses in the hospital), and agrees to acknowledge claims and judgement regarding having defeated him, and that education might be useful, especially, if, say, he wants to justify himself better against his father that he doesn't need an arranged marriage to do well for himself outside of the martial arts, or he wants to be better than his father in general as a person. Ranma soon finds Ryoga again, and follows him some more, and helps him arrange distant contact education with Hinako like Ranma was doing, since Ryoga can do that while traveling, even if he gets lost, he can still get his education, at least thorugh high school level, which Hinako proves more that willing to help with. Ranma and Ryoga wind up talking a bit more about Harry, and with Harry on his mind, Ryoga somehow manages to get them to the UK, lost somewhere in Wales, before Ryoga manages to fall out of contact with Ranma and get lost without Ranma following him due to Ranma getting distracted from keeping him from wandering off without him. Ranma winds up heading to London, and stumbling into a return visit of the young Amazon girl, who recognizes Ranma as she tries to scam for some food in girl form, and after some talking, decides to tag along while Ranma goes to visit Harry, since she can at least explain magic a bit to Harry for Ranma's sake, and afterwards, Ranma can come back to the Amazons, and stay with them for a while until Genma gets close or Ryoga turns up close to Ranma again. She suggests this since Ranma is clearly low on supplies and has no clue how to get a job in as a youth without proper travel records in a more modern country without the ability to move on quickly with Ryoga's help. This results in Harry winding up lucking into getting an accidental defeat on the girl when Ranma tries to teach him some self defense tricks, after the girl recognizes the name Harry Potter, and his being relatively nice might mean he isn't _that_ icky of a boy, and due to being potentially famous with parents who fought in a war mgiht make him a good catch, gives Harry the kiss of marriage. Ranma realizes what is up, and helps Harry run off before more Amazons arrive to drag him off to their village, and explains the situation to him. Harry agrees because the idea of running away from the Dursleys in the process and learning some more martial arts from Ranma sounds fun. Dumbledore gets involved due to Harry running off, and the Amazons starting to search for Harry, and the blood wards being disrupted, and beats the Amazons into tracking down Harry. This results in Dumbledore screwing things up with Ranma trying to oblivate him, only to get knocked out in retaliation, and Ryoga to turn up soon afterwards, and help both Ranma and Harry escape more, and wind up somewhere in Europe before a distraction caused by trying to hide Ranma transforming in near-public causes them to get separated from Ryoga and Ryoga get lost elsewhere again. This would then start the journey, with Ranma bringing Harry into the distance learning through Hinako's help thing, even if she can't arrange the magical side of things. This continues with occasional Ryoga helping them 'get lost' to new areas when he turns up, when they don't stumble into other sorts of transportation, and Harry stumbling into finding out about his having a Gringotts trust vault left by his parents and realizing they must have been magical, and using that to help pay for his own side of supplies, while Ranma lucks or scams into his side of things or does odd jobs or random lucky heroics that they get rewarded for. They also stumble into meeting more of Ryoga's relatives, and getting some help traveling from them as well, including Ranma winding up learning Martial Arts Rythmic Gymnastics from Ryoga's aunt in girl form due to shennanigans and needing to serve as a sparring partner for humbling one of her students in exchange for help with more travel. Dumbledore manages to contact them properly in time for Harry to go to Hogwarts, but reveals he had enough trouble with it that with the blood wards down, wandering via the aid of the Hibiki family and learning to defend himself better with Ranma's help might be the next best thing for Harry during the summers, and he arranges for a magical way Ranma can stay in contact with him. What Dumbledore is hiding in this is that the blood-wards actually re-established themselves after a while, in a weird traveling form, and he'd deduced that Ranma must be related to Harry on Lily's side somehow. He'd realized by this point the Dursleys were very unsuitable as guardians. And the only way he'd been able to find Harry was through the blood-ward monitoring equipment in his office, and even that with difficulty thanks to Hibiki interference. This leads into Dumbledore continuing to investigate that potential connection, and stumbling upon finding out about Nodoka in the process, and that Nodoka, Ranma's girl form, and Lily all have red hair from the same bit of lineage. Dumbledore hopes to ensure some more stable summers maybe for Harry, partly to make it so that he can get back to Hogwarts on time and rely less on the Hibikis, so winds up tracking down Nodoka to see how suitable she is, and putting her back in contact with Ranma. This results in the revelation of her craziness about manliness, but Dumbledore manages to fast-talk his way into smoothing things over regarding Ranma's curse and revealign things in a careful mannner to avoid things blowing up over it before they get in contact. Nodoka still doesn't approve of Ranma running out on the arranged marriage, but taking care of a young kid who is in danger of villains is a good thing, and Dumbledore is forced to play it up furthur and reveal his confirmation of actual relations between them to Harry, which earns Nodoka's approval for Ranma more formally, and she tears up the seppuku contract under Dumbledore's encouragement, declaring it fulfilled in a way she can't go back on honorably, and making it clear she does love Ranma. Getting her to that point was also helped by Ranma stumbling into revealing his distant education with Hinako and how he was tryign to be a better man than his father in some ways. Some pictures of young Harry convinces Nodoka all the more, since she's basically getting a new kid out of this encounter on top of getting Ranma back. Harry meanwhile, is dealing with the fact that his Amazon 'wife' is attending Hogwarts with him, and the resulting shennanigans from that, even if the UK ministry of magic doesn't aknolwedge her claim and she's forced to back off while at Hogwarts in pushing it to avoid a diplomatic incident, but with his adventures with Ranma and the skills and confidence he learned from such fueling the 'Boy-Who-Lived' perception, he actually finds her one of the people who is easier to deal with than many of the others at Hogwarts, especially at this age when she has little intrest in more directly exploring any sort of seduction attempts or the like, and is mostly content with simply verbally asserting the existence of their relationship and her village's rules, and that she'll win him over eventually, and winding up in arguments with Hermione over following such archaic and out-dated rules and traditions and such that are only moderated by not wanting to trigger a deadly fued between them (even if she can't actually do kiss of death at Hogwarts as part of agreements to attend) and Hermione having enough of an interest in foreign cultures and magic to be drawn into some less hostile discussions as well. During the summer, Harry would head to the Saotome home with Ranma, only for Genma to turn up and begin pushing for the engagement again, and Cologne to turn up as well, to help pressure Harry towards his Amazon wife, and hint at Ranma challenging perhaps for Shampoo's hand, and baiting them by defeating Genma, and helping them slip out for a while after the blood wards are re-charged to avoid Genma some more, and stumbling into Happosai in the process, and winding up having a bit of an ultimate moxibition and Hiryuu-Shoten-Ha arc, Cologne teaching Ranma both to spite Happosai and help him out of sympathy for the moxibition and as furthur bait for Ranma to be interested in marrying an Amazon, especially after seeing how he reacts to Happosai's shennangans. Dumbledore turns up not long after this, and turns out to have known Happosai, and they'd fought together a bit during Grindelwald's war, although Happosai was there mostly for perverted reasons, and thinks Dumbledore is boring, due to not being able to understand interest in women, having figured out that Dumbledore is gay. Dumbledore, on the other hand, is reluctant to try to help bring Happosai to heel due to Happosai's past heroics and bits of life-saving, even if he'd committed various crimes while he was at it and been quite a pervert and pissed off a group of veela, he still managed to be a war hero who probably helped out a lot in the conflict before Dumbledore got up the confidence to face Grindelwald, and Dumbledore had seen much worse in terms of perversion. Plus Dumbledore isn't entirely certain he could win, especaially after Ranma caught him by surprise that one time. Happosai turns out to have somehow convinced Nodoka that he's an icon of manliness at some point, and manages to use that to let Ranma dodge Genma for a while as Harry attends Hogwarts for 2nd year, by having Ranma tag along on his shennangians traveling the world a bit. Ranma is heavily reluctant, but considers it better than dealing with Genma's hasseling, and perhaps his duty to try to keep Happosai somewhat in line, since it looks like Happosai will be traveling anyway, and it's better than trying to rely on the Amazons to slip Genma's hasseling, especially since this plan somewhow has Nodoka's approval. Hilarity would thus ensue. How is that for an alternate starting premise for the fic? You can use elements of this for your own idea or use it wholesale as an alternate starting point.

I like the sound of this a lot. I’d prefer a ranma Nabiki pairing. As hermoine and Nabiki have similar personalities with snarky no-nonsense wits. But then again I love the pairing of ranma and Nabiki so that may be my bias. Shampoo is second up followed by Kasumi. Other than that I’d love to see a first draft of that.

Delta105

Definitely sounds like a great story plot

Brody Meech

sounds awesome

Lucien Dauntes

Holy crap, I would love to see this one become a reality. I really like Stallion, Bhaal, and Waves but I think this is probably the story I'd be most excited for in a while.

UrpsychoEX

This is my favorite of the two ideas.

Curtis

Yet another great story ideal. The world needs more authors like you.

WhiteDoll

Good isea though i personally I tend to think it's not really a ranma fix if he doesn't have a gender curse. If your crossing it with HP you could have his curse mix with ([bad Chinese accent] weird but ordinary two tailed cat) combine with his kids abilities he learns to make a fake nekomata (demihuman in HP nuf said). Harry's would likely be a snake/ naga because of spillover negative karma from the body soul shard he has.

sandmanwake

This sounds like a wonderful premise. Though whoever wrote all those "Harry Potter and the X" books should find out about Ranma and Harry's real life adventures and start writing about them so that what use to be fiction becomes real life chronicles of Harry Potter and his side kick Ranma. Harry's cursed form as an Asian dragon--not sure how I feel about this. Seems interesting and could give way to some interesting magical stuff considering Asian dragons often are linked to the divine.

Razgriz0x

Sounds like a hilariously fun read. Looking forward to a teaser of this in the future.

Treant Balewood

Ranma/Tonks does sound like a pile of fun. Ranma/Fleur I wounder how that work, either really well or not at all although a good first impression counts for alot... Looking forward to the teaser chapter at the least

Stephen Foltz jr

I have to say as a whole i love the idea!!!! The Ranma/Tonks pairing will be epic in so many ways. She could probably help Ranma come to terms with his/her's curse for and learn to except it as part of himself/herself.

Cody Mcgrew

i really like this story idea

JDZ

I really also like this story idea. There is a lot of interesting things you can play with.

Ranma/Tonks this story MUST Happen
