December Format Announcement. (Patreon)

The format for December will be: 

One Medium sized story for fanfic. This poll has already been put up.

One small story for fanfic.  This poll will be posted the same day I announce the winner of November’s small story poll. Whoever wins will not be in the December poll. This in an attempt to start some kind of rotation, rather it is simply so I can get the poll started early.

I will also be sharing two chapters of Making Waves with the public at large.  That will be enough for Fanfic only fans. 

Then we will have THREE more stories, at least two of which will be for Patreon. 

The first patron only story will be a present to myself as much as it will be for the fans who have voted for this teaser concept since I introduced it: a spoiler chapter for my story concept, Heroes of the High Seas. I want to do this for many reasons, mainly because I want to see if I can actually write a male lead whose primary good point is his mental ability, at least at first, and who has shit for confidence in most situations. That, and because I think the idea of Izuku and the others in One Piece land could be fun. So this will be my present to myself LOL. 

The second story will be a straight up clash between Sword, Bow and Horse, and Making Waves. Bhaalson Remodel will not be on here for December since it won in November, and because the next chapter (after the chapter for November) is… well it’s not much of a spoiler to say it will be combat from one side of the chapter to the other. A whole campaign essentially in a single chapter. So that is the kind of chapter I’d want to pair with two other stories that month which have a lot of world building or romance.

The fifth story for December is undecided at the moment and will remain so until I see the results of the November. I want to see if Gods and Devils and Wild Horses wins at last. If it doesn’t, then I will just straight up update it as the fifth story for December. If it wins, then I may switch to a poll about a Ranma-centric concept chapter.  Not an HP one. Sorry HP fans, but most of my Ranma teaser chapter concepts have their first chapters fully outlined, whereas the HP ones do not. That, and you dominated back in October and have a chance of doing the same for November, so December will be time for my Ranma muse to shine.

That said, I have looked at the results thus far of my poll ‘What Are Your Two Favorite Stories?’. With only four days left, FILFy is winning by 14 points over ATP and even ATP getting that close was due to a rally in the past few days from it’s fans.  I have been astonished to see that none of the fanfic Ranma stories have been able thus far to take even second. Stallion of the Line is currently in third, but a distant third having brought in only 103 votes so far.

If you haven’t votes yet, I would urge you to head over, but this does pose a problem for me. I have been singularly unable to control my FILFy muse when I get going, so I don’t see my being able to write a FILFy chapter as anything less than a medium story. Which means that whenever it wins, it cuts into my SW story for that month. On the other hand I love FILFy. Rias and the others are fun to play with, and I love Daddy Potter and his growing collection of daughters LOL. 

But, ATP did well enough as well that I am going to start having it be part of the polls going forward. I think I am at the point where I can cut it’s chapters down to say, normal medium story length rather than massive chapter length. But again, this poses problems because if I put it in, I have to put it up against Magic and Horse. 

So what would everyone think of, say removing the Patreon only story every other month and replacing it with a second medium story poll? And then making certain the winner for the small story poll when it’s posted is a Ranma fic unless Horse wins that month? 

{Note: this is just one idea I came up with to address the fact that FILFy and ATP are so much more popular than my SW stories (pout). If you have another idea, share it with me, and unless it’s ridiculous we’ll see if it can work any better than mine}

I am also giving a shout out for Baldur’s Gate fans. This is a straight up request for anyone who has played Baldur’s Gate to PM me. I want people – at least three or four – to bounce ideas off going forward. This will include but not be limited to: questions about Faerun in general, quests that need to be included, the Gamer aspects. Most importantly it will be about which NPCs to include in the story beyond the ones I’ve already introduced. If you are interested in this kind of discussion, PM me here on Patreon please.
