Captain's Log #13 - November2023 (Patreon)

Greetings Handsome Seekers!

Did you know, that adding visual effects is one of the most exciting parts of making a game? It puts the things together! We are excited as we started assembling the game assets into the first game alpha version :3

And with that, we bring you this month's Demo Tracker! Which is looking so good 😍!!

🔧 Technical Update

• We have reorganized our (enormous) scope of work to streamline the delivery of  the demo and a special something extra as soon as possible. As vague as it sounds, with the amount of work we have to do, proper housekeeping is a challenge on its own!
• Huge progress in the puzzle-adventure part of the game - we have two working segments that will have you searching for clues and solving puzzles as you explore the rooms of the mansion.
• Tutorial refinement continues - after some testing, we’ve identified some pain points in our onboarding section for the spicy scenes and did our best to iron those out.
• Sex mechanics tuning - following up on that, we have improved (and will keep on improving) the sex mechanics themselves. There’s so much sexy math behind this…
• Feedback improvements - the improvements are not only mechanical, but also UX. We redesigned the feedback system to be more direct and intuitive. Being a good lover is not easy, but we’ll do everything to make you one!
• For all you speedrunners and turbocasanovas out there - we’ve implemented an in-game timer as a scoring mechanic for le sex scenes. Inb4: orgasm%
• VFX - Finally we’re moving to adding some juice to the game. Shakes, fire, magic and… EXPLOSIONS!? Our Cap'n insists on caressing every single particle, so expect some flashy stuff.
• Sound - working with our brilliant sound designer and composer, we’re integrating fmod into the game. This opens up a world of possibilities and makes it much easier to manage files.
• Dialog System improvements - we have most of our dialog systems and scripts in place and we’re starting to put them to work. Character expressions, pop-up images, sounds, branching logic - to name a few.
• Lots of small improvements, fixing bugs, adding features and upgrading our many many systems. No rest for the wicked!

📝 Writing

Would you look at that! We are wrapping up writing, finalizing proofreading and fixing remaining plotholes and adding descriptions to game objects and quest items. Finally being able to plan the rewards for our beloved Seekers (yes! You!).

🎵 Music

We listed 156 new custom game sounds (sfx) and 10 custom music tracks for the demo, and in case you are worried it's a lot - most of them is already in progress or in review!--HOWEVER, our Captain's philosophy is that 50% of the experience comes from the music and sound, so expect MANY more compositions and polishing in this regards for the full game!

🎨Art

We don't stop painting! We keep adding more slides to the visual novel parts, we started assembling the game intro cinematic, and last but not least, our best girl Moruga is finally coming to life!! 🙀🎊

And you can rest assure, things are spicing up in Soulgasm!! The plot thickens (Quite literally! 👀💦) as Nova gets comfy with us lending her a hand or two ;))

🧠 Final Thoughts

November brought us good progress, both for planning the game demo and the game full scope. We can now estimate a bit better the road ahead and we are most excited to see the whole demo put together! Now that we are working on composition, SFX and VFX, that means we are heading towards the final line!
