Chapter 199: Interrogation

"Let me see." Frankly was going to move to the back when all of a sudden, smoke appeared out of nowhere and started to fill the deck.

"What is that!?, smoke?" Nami asked.

"It's gas, I thin-" Sanji fell down before he could finish the sentence.

"Get inside. Everyone!" Vivi ordered while pushing Nami first.

Brook and Buggy followed.

"Is sleeping gas, Chopper. Get inside, I have an idea." She exclaimed.

The deer did not hesitate for a second and rushed inside.

After Chopper went in, Vivi entered too, and closed the door.

"Wait, I thought you were going to fight them!" Buggy looked confused.

"I am." Assured Vivi.

"There is someone here!" They heard a male voice speak outside.

"What is this guy? a robot?" Another one spoke. Their voices were muffled by the gas masks they were wearing.

"There is a guy here with the weirdest eyebrows I have ever seen." Another voice said.

"Whoa, guys, check this out! Two hot babes!" A man said with excitement.

"Wow!, Twins!" Someone added.

"Good thing Sanji was not awake to hear that." Commented Vivi with dread.

"Babes, twins?!" Brook sounded very much interested in going out to check it out.

"Stop, Brook!. Those are Vivi's clones, right?" Said Nami.

Vivi nodded.

" The water clones are not affected by any sleeping gas or poison since they are not alive and thanks to my observation haki, I can operate them from here."

"Oi, why aren't those girls sleeping?" One of the invaders finally realized.

"Yeah, that's weird. Are they immune to the gas?" Someone wondered.

The five individuals approached the two clones and surrounded them.

"Hei, girls. Say something!" One of them demanded but the clones were unable to speak.

All of a sudden, the two clones of Vivi moved to attack, catching the men by surprise.

From the inside, all they heard was some commotion and the sound of bodies hitting the deck.

"Let's wait a bit for the gas to disperse and then we can go meet our guests." Suggested Vivi.

"Uhhhgg, my head…." the man woke up with a grunt.

"See?, I told you that it would work." Said Chopper with pride.

"What is going on?!" Asked the confused man.

"You were taking too long to wake up, so I had to give you a stimulant. Don't worry, is not dangerous but you may suffer from some headaches." Explained the doctor.

Twenty minutes have passed since the attack. They had tied up the five men and removed their protective suits before trying to wake them up and pry them for information.

"How long are those two going to be sleeping thought?" Asked Nami, looking at Sanji and Franky who were laid down on the deck.

"You have your first question, How long does the effect last?" Vivi asked the man.

The man made an angry expression.

"How dare you?!. Let me go already! And what did you do with my friends?!."

Vivi grabbed the man's head and forcefully moved to face the other side of the deck. The other four men were all tied up on the deck but alive.

"Your friends are fine for now, but it depends on you if they remain that way. Now answer the question." Vivi's tone got more serious.

The man gulped in worry and he wondered how things could have gone this wrong. They had never failed before in their mission. The sleeping gas always works like a charm.

"Well?, we don't have all day." Demanded Nami.

"One hour…" the man decided to answer.

"Okay, now to more serious questions. Who are you, who do you work for and what are your intentions?." Asked Vivi.

She may already know the answer but could not make that claim to his friends. And she was going to need this man's cooperation to find the secret laboratory anyway.

"I'm not telling you anything! I will not betray Master!" The man said with conviction.

Vivi sighed.

"Buggy,  throw one of them overboard."

She said while pointing at the four bounded men.

For what was worth, the clown did not hesitate to follow the order even if he usually complained about not following her orders. He must have known that this was not the time for his outbursts.

"W-Wha- wait!" Their prisoner stammered but Buggy did not listen to him.

The bound prisoner landed in the waters with a splash and was not seen again. 

"Those waters were probably over the boiling point on the surface, so it would have been an unpleasant dead, had he been awake," Vivi said casually.

"You bastards!" The man shouted. 

"Hey, you guys came to attack us first, what were you planning on doing with us after putting us to sleep?!" Nami frowned.

"If you don't answer, we are throwing you next. Then we wake up another of your friends to talk. " Said Vivi.

The man gritted his teeth and trembled but did not speak.

"Chopper prepare more of that stimulant.  Buggy, you know what to do."

Before the clown took steps towards him, the man opened his mouth.

"Wait, I'll talk!, Please!."

"Talk then!" Buggy smirked.

"We all used to be pirates.  Now we work for the Master. We take care of the security of the island. If anyone comes here, our orders are supposed to capture them and lock them inside one of the facility cells."

"Who is this master?" Asked Brook.

"We don't know his name. Master is a kind scientist, he even has a hospital for children inside the facility.  He said that he is researching something that would make the world a better place."

"Yes, and he uses outlaws to kidnap anyone who gets close to this island. He does sound like a kind man." Nami looked a bit skeptical about this Master.

“And what does this Master do with the people you capture?” Asked Brook.

The man looked conflicted. “Well…we don't know for sure. He usually gives them some sort of experimental medicine or something…”

“So, he experiments with people?!. What are the effects of this medicine he gives them?” Asked Chopper.

“If the patient survives, they usually end up with some animal parts…I’m sure he has a good reason for this! The Master is a kind person!” The man defended.

“Does he remind you of someone?” Asked Vivi to Chopper.

The deer made a grave expression. This was very similar to the human experiments that Doctor Hogback was doing in Thriller Bark.

“We have to see this laboratory…if he is experimenting with humans…”
