Chapter 55: Fighting a kitten

“Robin!, I finally found you” Yelled Luffy.

An injured Paulie was next to him.

Another wall exploded and Zoro appeared on the other side of the hole.

“Hey Luffy!, where have you been the whole time!. I have been looking for-” He then noticed the rest of the figures in the room.

“Robin!, Vivi!...are those the carpenters?”

“Damm it….this was supposed to be a quick mission…” Mumbled Lucci.

“Strawhat…Paulie…” Iceberg said weakly from the floor.

“Mister Iceberg!” Cried Paulie. He then noticed the faces of the others.

“What the hell is going on here?. Lucci?, Kalifa, Kaku…even Blueno is here?”

“Paullie…you need to get out of here!” Said Iceberg.

“Why are you guys dressed like the criminals after Mister Iceberg's life?!” Paulie screamed.

Luffy looked at Lucci with interest.

“Wait…are you the pigeon guy?. What happened to you?...you look like a cat!”

“I'm a leopard!” He roared. 

“Paulie,” Lucci called. “We are actually Government Intelligence Operatives. Our job as carpenters was just one more mission to us. You will have to forgive me if I have to step on Iceberg's head to get it complete.”

“You!!. You made a fool of us?! All of this time, I saw you all like comrades…” Paulie pulled out his ropes.

“Stop it, Paulie!” Yelled Iceberg.

“Pipe hitch knives!” Paulie threw two ropes with knives attached to them at Lucci.

This one disappeared from the spot, reappearing in front of Paulie.

“Shigan”

Lucci's finger buried itself in Paulie's chest.

Paulie spat some blood and collapsed on the floor.

“Hey!, Rope guy!” Called Luffy.

“You still don't get it. Resistance is futile against us, who have mastered the Rokushiki. Skills that put us well above human levels. A single member of CP9 has the strength of a hundred men.”

Paulie stood up while clutching his wound.

“Why…you…”

“No matter, we shouldn't leave witnesses.” Lucci moved forward and went for the finishing blow but was interrupted by Luffy.

“Stop it!” Luffy stretched his leg and threw a kick to Lucci's face but it was easily parried.

Luffy did not stop there.

“Gomu Gomu no….Gatling!”

“Tekkai” Punches landed on Lucci but had no effect.

“Why isn't it working?” Wondered Luffy.

“Soru” Lucci moved in front of Luccy.

“Shigan” He pushed his finger to Luffys neck.

“Arggg!” Luffy was sent backward and started coughing. 

“If you had a normal neck, you would now have a hole in it and would have died instantly. Rubber man.” Lucci commented.

Luffy recovered and quickly extended his arm to grab Paulie and get him away from Lucci.

“Why are you siding with him?” Asked Kaku

“Because I promise him that we will beat the guys who tried to kill the old man Iceberg!” Luffy then looked at Robin.

“Robin!, what are you doing with those guys?. If you want out of the crew at least tell me why. But if they are forcing you to help them….” Luffy gave Lucci a deadly glare.

Robin looked at Vivi for a moment.

“What did you tell them?”

Vivi shrugged. “Just some speculations, nothing more.”

Robin looked at Luffy.

“I already told the cook and the doctor that I was leaving. Didn't they tell you?”

“I won't accept that without a proper explanation!” Exclaimed Luffy.

“Im leaving to archive my goal! A goal that cannot be archive if I stay with you guys. To accomplish it…I will sacrifice anything!” Was Robin's answer.

“That's why you framed us as assassins? What is this goal of yours?” Demanded Zoro.

“I don't have to tell you.”

“Are you crazy, Nico Robin? Do you understand what you are trying to do?!!” Yelled Iceberg. He assumed that Robin's goal was to find the ancient weapon by reading the Poneglyphs.

“You really should stop talking…” Suggested Vivi.

“Keep your mouth shut!” Robin used her ability to slam Iceberg back on the floor.

“Mister Iceberg!” Said Paulie with concern.

“I will not let anyone interfere!” Said Robin.

Luffys expression was a mix of shock and anger.

“Robin…are you serious?...”

“Are you really our enemy? Robin.” Asked Zoro.

“I'm sorry to interrupt this touching moment. But we have a very important person we have to meet after this.” Said Lucci.

“What about the interrogation? He still hasn't told us-” Kaku was interrupted by Lucci again.

“Forget about it. I already have a good idea of who has the real blueprints. It can only be him.” Said Lucci.

Iceberg looked at Lucci with a concerned expression but chose to say nothing.

“Kalifa, how much longer?” Lucci asked.

“Two minutes.” She answers.

“This is sudden, but in two minutes, the mansion will be engulfed in flames. However…I would hate to leave loose ends.”

Kaku, Blueno, and Kalifa approached Luffy and Zoro.

“Looks like they plan on eliminating us. Robin seems to want to stay on their side. Luffy, are you okay with Robin leaving the crew like that?” Asked Zoro.

“Hell no!” Was Luffy response

Lucci turned to face Vivi.

“Oh? the leader is going to play with me? What an honor.” 

“It will be a short honor…Soru!” Lucci appeared in front of Vivi and moved to attack. He was much faster than Blueno and Kalifa. Vivi had no time to dodge even knowing the location of the attack.

“Shigan!” Lucci's finger pierced Vivi's forehead with no resistance.

Of course, it did no damage and Vivi had an opening to counter attack.

“Blast!” Vivi aimed her attack at a place where using tekkai would be tricky…between Lucci's legs.

Lucci was hit with a high-pressure blast of water and stumbled backward grabbing his crotch.

“You dammed pirates have no honor!”

He recovered surprisingly quickly from such an attack.

“At least I now understand why Blueno and Kalifa were unable to harm you…you are a Logia user. It seems like our intel was very incomplete and didn't come prepared to counter someone like you.”

Lucci adopted a fighting pose again.

“But, don't think yourself invincible. I have something that can even harm someone like you.”

Vivi was slightly surprised.

‘Does he?... I'm sure He doesn't know haki at this point. Wait, He did have something else…what was it called?’

“Rokuogan!” Lucci placed both fists against her torso and created a shockwave that destroyed her insides.

“Ugg.” Vivi was pushed a few feet backward.

‘That…had me worried for a second there. It didn't do any damage at all, it just made me dizzy by having my insides shaken.’

The attack was very similar to an impact dial. Instead of attacking the exterior, it creates a shockwave that damages the internal organs. Something like that would be very effective against someone with resistance to damage like Luffy. But against someone who can turn their entire body, including organs into an element, it would do nothing at all.

“That was an interesting move, Mister Kitty. Let me show you something interesting too.”

She removed something from her bag and place it on her hand.

“Jet!” She propelled herself towards Lucci.

Anticipating an unknown attack, Lucci adopted a defensive posture.

“Tekkai!”

“That won't do.” She gently placed her palm on his belly.

“REJECT!”
