Chapter 32: Vivi vs Shura part 1

 “Fuza!, burn her down!” Shura ordered his companion.

The bird opened his mouth and a wave of flames came out.

“Water shield!” Vivi turned both her arms into the water and made them rotate in front of her, protecting her from the flames.

After the fire dissipated, Shura was left with a baffled expression.

“You have an ability?” He said with a tinge of fear.

Vivi understood why He was so afraid. Devil fruits were extremely rare in the Sky Islands, so she must be reminding him of Enel himself.

“Using fire against me is useless. You may want to find another method.” Vivi suggested.

In reality, she was actually bluffing. Fire wasn’t that effective against her, but it will still cause a bit of damage and she would lose corporal mass.

In the way her fruit worked, her body could be entirely converted into water and manipulated freely. But her body mass did not change. Meaning that if she weighed a hundred and twenty pounds, she had that amount of water to manipulate.

Fire can evaporate water, so with every attack she blocks, she is losing body mass, and she is not sure what would happen if she loses too much. 

She has a few ways to recover water with the most direct one being to just drink it.

Shura seems to hesitate for a moment but quickly recovers his resolve.

“Even if you have an ability, You are no God. I will kill you to prove it! Fuza !” 

The bird immediately knew what Shura wanted with no further instructions needed. Fuza took into the air and then started to descend in Vivi's direction while Shura prepared his spear. 

This was the attack that Vivi was waiting for but she didn’t show any changes on her face.

“Die, pretender!” Shura extended his spear and aimed at Vivi's torso, hoping to kill her in one blow.

Vivi had pulled out something from her pocket and placed it in the palm of her hand. She moved directly to meet Shura's attack.

The tip of his spear made contact with the object in Vivi's hand. A loud banging noise resounded in the area as the two objects collided and Vivi was pushed back a bit.

She stood back up and smiled at Shura.

“Thank you for the charge, Mister Priest.”

Vivi then used her ability to launch her hand forward, aiming at Shura, who was left exposed after failing his attack.

Shura was taken by surprise by Vivi's ability to extend her arm and by the object on her palm.

“How did you get a dial?!”

‘I stole it from Conis's house. Not my proudest moment but necessary.’ Vivis had a flash of guilt before regaining her resolve.

“Impacto!” The moment the dial made contact with Shura's chest, she activate it, releasing the stored kinetic energy. The activation also comes with a backlash that would hurt the used, but for Vivi's whose body can be completely turned into water, it wasn’t a big deal. She could barely feel the shock.

“Arrg!!!” Shura spat blood and went flying off the ship but was promptly caught by his companion before He fell into the shark-infested waters.

“This is much better than the knife.” Vivi nodded in approval of her new weapon. 

The chopper came back with two barrels of water and placed them on the deck.

“Vivi!, what do I do now?.”

“Open them up, and be ready to put out any fires. That is our enemy's main weapon, we can't let him burn the ship.”

“Should I use the whistle?, we can call the old knight.” Chopper suggested.

Vivi shook her head. “I don’t want to keep depending on others to always save me…but, if I'm defeated, feel free to use it.”

“You are going to pay for that!!” Shura had recovered a bit and was once again ready to fight.

‘Since my trick has already been revealed, is not going to be easy to hit him again.’

She looked at the bird for a moment.

‘In the middle ages, when soldiers had to fight knights, they would always aim for the horse first. A knight without a mount is much easier prey.’

“Fuza!, burn everything down!” Shura demanded.

The bird opened its mouth and released a wave of flames. It wasn’t aiming at Vivi this time but the ship itself.

“Chopper, be ready!” Vivi ordered.

The flames covered almost the entire ship but only a few spots caught on fire. 

Vivi and Chopper worked together to put out the flames quickly.

She then realized how strange it was that Shura didn’t take advantage of his moment to attack her again.

She looked up and found him in a different place.

Shura looked at her with a confident smile.

“It is over. You will now face my trial of strings!”

The bird took up in the sky and once again came down towards Vivi's position while Shura had his spear prepared to attack.

‘The same attack again?, no wait…He said something about a trial of strings.’

When Vivi went to move her body, she noticed that several invisible strings were now covering the area where she was in, preventing her from avoiding his attack.

Shura's spear became hot red because of the use of a flame dial inside the weapon and prepared to finish Vivi off, knowing that she could not dodge his attack.

“Die!!”

‘I see now…He still has no idea how a logia fruit works…’

She changed her body into the water and moved through the string with no problem. Vivi twisted her body to avoid the spear that ended up making a big hole in the deck of the ship and starting another fire.

‘Chopper can deal with that.’

She focused on her target since she had a small window to attack before it takes off again.

She placed her hand on the bird's head.

“Impacto!”

The bird was sent backward and crashed against the ship rail while Shura fell the other way.

Vivi followed the bird and before it could stand up, she extended her arm and attacked again.

“Impacto!”

The second blow sent the bird flying off the ship and breaking the rails before it fell into the waters.

“Noo!! Fuza!!” Shura stood up quickly but had no time to save his companion since Vivi stood in his way.

“Sorry, but we are not done yet, Mister Priest.”

“You!!. I'm going to kill you!!” Shura has never felt this enrage before.
