Chapter 30: Sentenced

“Oh…I lost it for a moment…” Nami recover her senses and brought the waver to Pagaya.

“Mister, thank you for letting me use it, it was very fun!.”

Pagaya had a shocked face. “No…. don't mention it.”

Conis however was in full panic mode. “You guys are in serious trouble!”

“Right…” Nami grabbed Luffy by the arm and started running.

“Come on Luffy, let's run for it!.”

“Why, you already knocked him down?” Luffy didn’t understand what she was worried about.

“Is not them I'm afraid of…ill explain later.” Said Nami.

“There is no escape! not only were you impolite to us. Her hindering our duty is a class-five crime. With the power invested in me by God Enel, I sentence you to drifting cloud!” The captain yelled in rage.

“That can't be!” Conis looked horrified.

“Get them!.” The Captain commanded.

The soldiers pulled bows and shoot in the direction of the Going Merry. The arrows left behind a trail of white clouds.

“Nami, get on the ship!” Luffy stood in front of her.

“What are those things?”

The soldiers jumped on top of the long clouds and started sliding on them while using some small version of the waver that they had attached to their feet.

Two of them were immediately on Luffy with swords drawn and tried to cut him up but Luffy evade them without much difficulty.

“Wow!, you guys have some cool stuff.” He said excitedly.

He then started to spin in the air.

“Gomu Gomu no….firework!!”

Punches and kicks started to fly all over the place, hitting and knocking out many of the soldiers.

The rest were promptly taken out by Zoro and Sanji.

“Say, Nami. How much money do we have left?” Asked Zoro.

“Around fifty thousand.” She answered.

“What!, why are we so poor? I'm the Captain, so I'll say this…you guys need to be more careful about how to spend our money!” Declared Luffy.

“YOU are our number one expense with everything you eat!” Nami was indignant.

“Well…I think the time to solve the problem with money has already passed anyways…” Vivi was looking at all of the soldiers on the ground.

“They defeated the berets!.” Conis was in awe.

“Citizens of the blue sea should have difficulty fighting at this height.” Said Pagaya.

The Captain of the berets rose up with difficulty. He was covered in bruises.

“You fools…” He chuckled. “We, the Berets are the nicest law enforcement in God's Land. The Priest of Upper Yard will show you no mercy!” He spat.

“We were tricked! That old lady didn’t say ‘you can pass without paying but you will then become wanted criminals’. This is a fraud!” Protested Nami.

“Anyways…things have now become complicated. If you are class two criminals we cant help you.” Said Pagaya, keeping his distance from the crew.

“Oh well, it doesn’t matter. We are used to being chased by authorities.” Said Luffy with a smile, but then his expression turned serious, and looked at Nami.

“Also, why did you come back?”

Nami made a confused face.

“Huh? what are you talking about?“

“We were about to go to the ‘place that no one should ever enter’ for a big adven….I mean, looking for You”

Nami sighed. “You are a terrible liar!” She smacked Luffy on the head.

“What big adventure!, I just saw some super scary guys on that island. I don’t know if there is a God there or not but there is no way I'm going back there!”

“Fine…well go by ourselves.”

“No!, pursuers are coming for us! We need to leave this island.”

Luffy was baffled. “Leave?!, with the work that we put in to get here?. Which is more important, adventure or your life?!”

“My life obviously!, followed closely by money…”

Usopp seemed to have thought of something. “By the way guys…we put a lot of thought and work to get here, but…we never planned the ‘how to get back down’ part.”

“Ah!, He is right.” Sanji turned to Conis. “Miss Conis, you must know some safe way to get back down, right?”

Conis noded.

“There is a way. You must make your way down to the white sea and then look for a place called cloud end.”

“Go it, well look for that,” Nami said.

“But…I don’t know if you should run, the white sea is very big.” Said Conis with a complicated expression.

Vivi felt sorry for her. 

‘She has been ordered by Enel and his priests to escort any criminal to Upper yard so the priests can kill us. But she doesn't want to do that so she feels very conflicted’

“Don’t worry, we don’t want to cause you more problems, well take our chances at the sea.” Said Nami.

“Mister!, can we take all of the food from earlier?” Luffy as always was more concerned about his stomach.

“I have a request too. Do you happen to have any tools I can borrow? I may need to do some repairs on the ship.” Requested Usopp.

“No problem. Come to my place again.” Pagaya offered.

Luffy, Sanji, and Usopp followed Conis and her father while the rest of the crew waited at the ship.

“It seems like our Captain still has the idea of visiting that island,” Zoro muttered.

“No way!!, you guys need to change his mind. I don’t want to go back there!” Nami was starting to panic.

“I don’t know if changing his mind is possible…” Robin wondered. She then noticed that Vivi was not speaking and holding the wooden rails with a strong grip while looking at the water.

“Is something wrong, Princess?”

‘Here we go’ Vivi thought as she spotted the big shadow.

“Yes, there is.” She turned around to look at them.

“There is something big moving under the ship.”
