I remember my dad telling me a story when I was really little about how when the original TCM came out in the 70s, there was someone who showed up at the drive in with a chainsaw (blade removed) and was running around terrorizing people. That had to be an adventure. The actor playing the sheriff here is most famous for playing the drill sergeant in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe. He's actual military and had been brought on as an advisor but Kubrick thought no one else could capture it as well as he did. Took me a few minutes to place where I knew that voice from. He's a great actor and can be extremely intimidating. Bizarrely I think he was scarier in FMJ than he was here when he was straight up wanting to murder people haha.
