Eds Alchemy didnt work on Bucanneer's automail because in order to use alchemy on something you have to know whats its made of so youd know what to transmute... just like when Ed and Scar first fought and Scar tried to destroy Eds arm but it didnt work, because Scar thought it was a normal flesh and blood arm but it was automail, then the next time they fought, since Scar knew it was metal, he transmuted it and blew it to pieces. Same with Bucaneer, Ed tried to transmute it assuming it was made of Iron (or was it steel?) cause thats what mods automail is made of, but it isn't so nothing happened, if he knew what it was actually made of he wouldve torn it right off.
