Zeke didn’t really know if pieck and galliard were going to die because the plan was to trap them underground for a long period of time. Zeke also didn’t know that Willy Tybur was not the war hammer. The plan was to eat will hopefully get the war hammer, kill the Marleyan brass (eren jumped on them), destroy the fleet (Armin) and then leave. But of course pieck was smart to inform those guys/her comrades to come rescue them. Pieck threw a wrench in Eren and zeke’s plan
