Seeing Reiners Psychological trauma with this EP really makes you think about certain aspects of the show. I really love how an EP like this, just talking is just as good as the crazy action-packed EPs. Just 3 more!

Now that with have clear insight on Reiners mental condition, it makes so much more sense now what causes him to just throw out there to Eren that they were the Colossal/Armored titan, and how he had a look of shock when Eren said 'you think I'm just going to go with you?' That flag breaking and falling was very symbolic of his mental state reaching its threshold and him 'snapping'.

Reiner is truly troubled. Learning that there's actual good people in the world shook him out of his game plan. Thanks for pointing out the meaning of the flag 🙌🏾

"Who's the enemy?" Pretty much the most important question for a majority of the show, and Erwin asked it in season 1, if you recall. Hajime Isayama is a genius. He does this thing where he simply puts characters together and lets them talk things out. And it is *thrilling*. Some of the best episodes in the entire show are just people sitting around talking. I write myself, and I'm super jealous of his ability to create so much tension when nothing is going on but a simple conversation. Reiner. I didn't care much for him up until this point when I first watched the show. But this is where he started to become an A++++ character you could write essays about.

The mental anguish Reiner must of been feeling all of them years training alongside 'good people' knowing his only task is to wipe humanity out 😩

To bear so much guilt and anguish that Reiner built a "soldier" persona to deal with it is pretty interesting. Another great example of AoT as a character study.
