An Unexpected Update On Prose (Patreon)
Content
Hi all,
I had promised an update on prose, and while I was working on that, a most inconvenient thing happened...my day job implemented more stringent usage tracking on the work computers. It is the same computer I have used M-F since 2016 to do most of my writing. Until I can further vet what I can and can not get away with, a huge chunk of my writing, posting, etc. time has been yanked suddenly away from me.
I've mentioned before that when we brought the kiddo home, I moved my basement office into the bedroom closet to be able to work while staying nearby her (and to be able to keep it locked and closed from her as she became mobile). It is an eaved closet I can't actually stand up in (I sit cross-legged on an old dog bed) so if you are picturing the set up of a certain child wizard you are not far off. This allows surprisingly comfortable comic lettering and visual editing, but isn't at the moment especially great for extended writing.
So, while I was already going to make changes to how prose updates would happen going forward I have to change even that plan now sort of on the fly until I have the day job abilities vetted, or I adjust the closet set up for writing that won't destroy my back. In the meantime, I will focus on picking at two stories already started, Gods of Miami and Sex In The Cards. I just can't promise an update schedule at this time.
However, I don't like pulling something back without offering some value in its place. Ya'll know I am always looking to turn your generosity into a return to you. And because of your support, I have a new comic that will start posting while I figure out the prose thing. I'd hoped to hold onto it a little bit to build a buffer, but now seems like the time to share.
The comic is called BROOM WITH A VIEW, and you can all see attached to this post the pencils I just approved for Page 1. Unlike most of my comics, this is set in a fantasy world that is being beautifully realized by the artist, Maco. I am extremely excited for the transformation shenanigans to come with this, and I hope it will help fill the hole caused by this pause on prose.
I know I've done less and less writing over the years, but I do love it, and I know it brings something to transformation fiction that comics can't always do. I have no intention of becoming a comics-only writer and dearly want to finish the stories I have started and bring new ones. Life has changed a bit VERY quickly the last couple of years, and it is my hope that I will be able to bring more regular prose updates back shortly.
Of course, if anyone has thoughts on how I could find the income to just become a full time transformation writer and project manager to replace my day job income, that would go some way to freeing up the time! 😄
Please feel free to share any thoughts on any of this.
As always, thanks for reading,
dS
