Protag Petrification Purgatory? (Patreon)

Recently, while researching an upcoming project, I came across the Demise: Petrification topic page on the EvilBabes wiki. It's certainly a great source for future Transformeum acquisitions, and some I already own.

But this got me thinking. Villains befalling permanent petrification is not that unusual, but what are some of your favorite examples of a protagonist being petrified but never turned back? Whether it be because of plot circumstances or the untimely end to a series, who are some heroes who got stoned and never found resolution?
