That title makes it sound like a bummer, but it's not. It's just - you know those weeks where you are constantly busy, but when you are done you look around and not much has changed? That's what this week feels like to me. Sound and fury signifying nothing and all that.

You can see from the high points I actually got quite a bit done.

  • Finally posted the new Tenebroum Tier.
  • I finished my 17th short story (score is now 16 submissions, 1 acceptance, 5 rejections.)
  • I now have a week buffer on all my stories.
  • I started making notes for a Tenebroum Adventure module (for those of you are into that sort of thing, do you prefer Pathfinder style adventure paths or something more sandboxy?)
  • I accepted a contract to do about 25,000 words of ghost writing.

The last one is the most interesting, but I can't talk much about it because there's an NDA attached to it. Let's just say I'm dipping my toe into the waters and getting paid to help someone with a similar writing style finish their 3/4 complete novel. It will be a fun project that I will work on over the next month or so, and hey - it might help me get an in with a small publisher. They actually expressed an interest in Golemancer, which surprised me, so who knows where this will go.

This last point brings me to the source of my ennui, if there is one. The eternal debate of what I should be writing next. All sorts of random ideas have been ending up in my notebook lately, most of which I feel like I could put in the Core Worlds Universe where the Golemancer lives. The answer is to write what you feel of course, but that's an ever-shifting target... at least until you pick one, then you're committed for a year or so. Regardless, I will add new ideas to my list faster than I can write the existing ones. That is my curse.

Glad to hear there’s interest in golemancer it’s what brought me to your patron in the first place. I wish you luck on getting it published, if that’s what you want to do with it. Also started reading Tenebroum recently and I’m enjoying the story. I look forward to when I’m paying for the advanced chapters. 😁

Nice! Golemancer has a grand total of two patrons, so by all means hop on discord sometime and tell me what you like and what you don't. I plan on doing an extensive rewrite to the early part to make it feel less like the Golemancer is losing because it's a CONSTANT complaint. (You'll also be pleased to know that I have no less than 3 great ideas for future books in the core world books: a straight Litrpg progression, a crafting focused story, and a kingdom builder, but any/all of those would be 2024 at the earliest)

Personally I feel the story has progressed exactly as it should have and I struggle to see how else it would have (aside from another golemancers perspective). The recent heroes chapter when they see the map and realise exactly how desperate their situation is after everything that’s happened to them was the catharsis needed to justify the golemancers loses. It’s as if the lines spoken by the golemancer at the end of chapter 05 are finally coming true. (The core world universe you’ve made already feels like it has so many possibilities and I look forward to reading them all if you ever get around to writing them.)
