This has been an excellent series, as always. While I feel you've been a tad bit more critical and harsh towards the game than I have, it does sound like we are pretty much in the same boat. I would rank Breath of the Wild over Tears of the Kingdom any day of the week. Tears of the Kingdom tries to address some complaints that Breath of the Wild received, but Nintendo does not address them meaningfully. To me, Tears of the Kingdom is Breath of the Wild with pretty much everything cranked to eleven. But this is not always a good thing. There is too much farming with too little gain and meaning behind it. Sometimes less is more, and Tears of the Kingdom doesn't strike me the correct balance. It's still a great game, and there is no denying it. But it seems to me like Nintendo lost focus. They created a sandbox for players to go rampant with the great physics, but without any actual puzzles or anything where you need to utilise it fully. All challenges the game throws at you have an easy solution that doesn't require you to be creative right next to it. The engine is really capable and you can do some amusing and impressive things with it. But nothing in the game pushes you towards doing so, and when you do it, there is no reward for doing it. None of the shrines improve on anything from Breath of the Wild. I would say the Champions Ballad DLC shrines are all better than anything offered in Tears of the Kingdom. The dungeons/temples end up being so small with no neat mechanic. I would argue that the puzzleness of some of the divine beats is actually superior. They do feature more unique bosses, which is a clear improvement over the rehashed Blight Ganon thing that was going on in Breath of the Wild. The story is more engaging, but the fact that you get it repeated over and over makes it outstay it's welcome.
