So uh, in light of recent developments.

I've been considering whether I should be getting new channel art for the let's play channel. I've had the same art for quite a while, and he only has one face. I was thinking I could start browsing for artists that could draw my hyena Marrow a few different ways for thumbnails. Maybe a different one for each genre/timeslot. RPG, puzzle, frustrating game, etc.

I wanted to know how people would feel about a shift in branding, or if I'd have a revolt on my hands lol

Is it time for a change?

Honestly, whatever you want. If your channel revolved around you talking about the furry fandom and showing furry art, I'd say go with Hyena. If your channel was just you in front of the camera talking games and other non-furry-related stuff, I'd say human. But your channel is about playing games and listening to your commentary, and for that, it really doesn't matter what you want the "image" of your channel to be so long as people look at it and know it's you. So I say, you do you.

Another vote for whatever makes you happy :)

Joker

I voted human, but chalk me up for another 'Whatever makes you happy'. I also liked the option some people mentioned of just doing both. Just switching it up between furry and human based on how you feel or on what series it goes on.

I enjoy the way you thematically match the t-shirt design based on what game you're playing (Mario games, Zelda, the pomegranate for Hades...) in your current thumbnail style. Having several different expressions at your disposal seems like a logical progession. And much as I like the current art (it's always nice to see a friendly face), Marrow is adorable and wonderfully expressive; I can already see him scratching his head over a particularly tricky puzzle game or grinning happily while hanging out with friends in multiplayer. Is there a risk of losing a bit of brand recognition? Eh, maybe, but considering the numbers that essay is doing, there's probably a LOT more people who've seen Marrow than those who just remember your old channel art. (when I saw the email subject, I first thought this was a reaction to all the people telling you to rename BoringKeith to something else ^^)

I voted human because I don't really like furry art, but I'm not gonna stop watching if you switch to hyena.

Didn't expect that. And can't really relate lol. But I support it. 🔥🙏 And the hyena looks dope.

I vibe with the anthro stuff, but I'm a newbie in your circle. My vote comes with a pinch of salt.

Not voting because I'm also echoing the "whatever makes you happy" option. It's difficult for me to try to guess the reasons you would choose one over the other (or possibly showcasing both Keith AND Marrow) without being in your shoes. If the only thing holding you back from going with Marrow is that people won't like it, I can at least be one voice telling you that won't be the case for me.

I've yet to listen to that podcast, but I'm basically on that "do what you want" train as well. I like your current artwork and such, but that's because I'm used to it (not that it isn't good, on the contrary!), but change is part of our lives, so I welcome anything. Especially if it's part of your persona (real and virtual). Your channel is definitely a reflection of you even if it is "just" your public image and not 100 % you as a whole. So if you feel like changing your artwork and bringing in something more furry this time, just do it :-)

Both will work, but I voted Human. Thinking of growing the channel, there are lot of ignorant people out there (potential new viewers, lol) who might turn away out of superficial misunderstandings. Human reads as simple and neutral while not competing with the game art. My bias: most furry art gives me uncanny valley chills. Dog head on ape body is more chimera than cute to me. One would need a strong artist (like the talented ones shown in the fan art section of the Legoshi video) to bypass this bias (pass the "bad anatomy = bad drawing" test).

Hate to give the unhelpful answer of "it's up to you", so my thoughts are that the hyena will probably create more unique/distinct art. Like I can't imagine branding anything with my face, if I had a brand I probably would have some sort of mascot or icon to allow more fantastical situations without feeling like I am inserting my actual self into something. But, I am just here to watch games, so you could change nothing or go full vtuber if you wanted and I would just keep watching. (granted puzzles games aren't super great for "live reactions". Queue up that 10 hours of intense witness puzzle staring, lol.)

Yeah, in terms of growing the channel, the hyena will likely cause some possible new viewers to shy away.
