I think it's time to finally cover the Metroid half of Metroidvania. Maybe we'll get to the Vania part soon, too. Vote for as many of the below as you want. I've never played any of them, having preferred swords and miserable piles of secrets.

This series would premiere after Subnautica, not Devotion.

Whoever votes for Other M needs a punch in the throat, just sayin'.

I am sure that you already know this, but zero mission and Samus returns are remakes of Metroid 1 and 2, respectively. I am not of the opinion that one needs to play the originals when a more up to date version is currently available and accessible the only benefit to aying the originals is saying "I played the originals"

Though, to be frank, I don't see much reason to play any other than Fusion if you are looking for the strongest continuity to Dread.

I'm voting for Other M. I liked it. I get that it's not a good Metroid game, but I enjoyed it and played it several times. It has its own merits and I'd love for Keith to play and judge it. (The Adam-thing is absolutely bonkers ridiculous. But once you accept that, it doesn't actually change that much. It's just a bad reason for a common game mechanic.)

I didn't vote for Other M but if Keith decides to play it, it'd be pretty fun to watch him dunk on all the stupid and badly designed parts.

I think chronological order is better to play from first one to the last. It's interesting to see how series evolved.

I don't understand this point. it's like I don't want to hear original songs if newest cover exist. I don't want to watch old movie cause remake exist. Remakes is good or bad still remakes, they not replace old stuff. It's addition to them. Original games is different games and deserve to be played.

I've only played Metroid 1, Zero Mission and Fusion. Zero Mission is superb. Fusion, I was confused by why people like it. It was highly linear, not something I'm looking for in a Metroid game. I recall Zero Mission as having more gameplay variety, exploration etc.

This means I'm gonna have to start playing them before you do so I can be ready in time for Dread

2D Metroid Games Metroid: Other M

SebastianSB

Yeah, I always though it was a 2D game and never double checked until after the poll.
