Would you satisfy my idle curiosity and clarify which one it was that defeated you? You may or may not know that despite similar names there's a world of difference between them. JavaScript is an eldritch abomination (on the back of which the Web rests, what fun), but Java I would consider one of the friendlier languages (I'm sure this statement won't cause any holy wars when and if you air this question).
