The fillers get a little weird after the next episode or two. Ace does not stick around for long in the manga. Very drop in, drop out character at this point. The anime chose to flesh him out a bit more which is nice...but it is technically filler to have him in the middle of the canon events the Strawhats experience in their desert travels. animefillerlist.com shows the major ones to skip. Episode 101 is only canon at the very end.

We're starting to see multiple threads and layers form in the One Piece world now: Gol D. Roger's Treasure, The Will of D, sketchy actions by the Seven Warlords, a little bit of World Government politics, drama within other prominent pirate crews, family relationships, and diverse opinions among the Marines. This is still only the beginning, so expect a 100 layer cake by the time we're caught up. Haha.
