Season 1 episode 13: the cringe episode Subaru tells Emilia he loves her because she “saved him”. He can’t tell her due to the curse. Emelia is confused & upset. She has no idea what Subaru is talking about. He sounds insane. Season 2 episode 13 Satella tells Subaru that she loves him. That she always loved him. Subaru is confused & upset . Subaru has no idea what satella is talking about. She sounds insane. There are 2 possibilities: Option1: Satella is crazy. She choose a random person in the galaxy/ multiverse/ future/ past and decide this 17yr old guy was the love of her life & she decided to give him this power. Option 2: consider what the show has told us & make 1 assumption Return by death is SATELLAS POWER. Return by death is a form of TIME TRAVEL. & let’s ASSUME satella is just an older Emilia. IF satella is an older emelia… then that would explain why Subaru was summoned & why satella doesn’t tell him anything. I wouldn’t be surprised is Re:Zero season 8 has emelia accidentally sending herself & Subaru 400yrs in the past. They then realize the truth… Subaru will then tell emelia “ 400 years from now. You need to summon me & give me return by death…. You can’t tell me anything… we need to make sure everything plays out or we won’t meet each other ..” It’s the whole chicken/ egg. Situation. It’s the flash / reverse flash situation(DC comics- CW tv show ). It’s a Harry Potter 3 and the time turner situation. It’s that time travel episode from CW’s Supernatural.

So Anime cut out very important scene in this episode and no anime doesn't explain it later and very low chance of it being included in next season unless they do anime only scene (very unlikely). So read ahead if you are fine with knowing about the cut content. . . . . . . . . . . . . . When Satella enters the trial , one of the witches asks Satella if she is Satella or Witch of Envy. Basically implying that Satella has split personality, Crazy one which kills everyone yandere type (the one who was saying "i love you" multiple times in ep9,10. And Satella is her normal personality, kind caring one which you see in this episode. No idea how studio fucked this up by not including this scene.

Nah sadly animay skipgang'd on a bunch of lore, which LNs would imply to be otherwise due to having more lore related stuff etc explained (S1E12 or 13 skipped important lore implications for Subaru, I assume they will be maybe explained in Arc 6 tho, once Aldebaran becomes more relevant etc, assuming they give a fuck that is). Anime basically skipgang'd on the reason why Echidna uses the Witch of Envy descriptor solely & hates her ass (no idea why they did that, cuz that's rly doing Satella dirty af IMO) I mean we know thanks to lore dump that Souls are a legit thing that exist as concrete stuff that can be manipulated artificially etc (Echidna attempted this, altho only partial success as can be seen her not being outside of this soul castle thingie), so AFAIK Satella is specifically doing her monologue rant to the SOUL she is perceiving in front of her, not to Subaru (i.e the personality matrix) specifically per se. It makes sense once you account the East Asian cultural baseline factor of Cycle of Reincarnation that is so common in LNs etc in general, especially in many Isekai settings from my personal experience even (and even non-Isekai fantasy genre LNs too)
