Personally I love Slime for a multitude of reasons such as: - The power scaling and power progression of the characters and Rimuru expanding his nation is so satisfying to me. - I love the camaraderie/companionship that everyone has for each other and towards Rimuru. I personally love that sort of thing as it also reminds me both of the Black Bulls (Black Clover) & the Straw Hats (One Piece) with how similar they are as well. - The comdey is great and its just an extremely fun show to watch. It's also a great change of pace and something new from the much darker animes I love such as Made In Abyss, Fate, Re:Zero etc. - You guys mentioned it already yourselves that the world building is really cool and interesting with still a lot of mysteries to this day. As for drama don't worry about that just please be patient and wait that's all I'll say.

Why I like Slime? 1. Power fantasy basically.. now it won't be for everyone, specifically people that want a big challenge every fight and constant drama, but for me, power fantasy is a perfect way for me to relax and wish I was the main character 2. Politics.. now typically I will watch anime to get AWAY from politics, but some anime just do it so well that it makes you actually want to watch and enjoy watching for some reason 3. Character reactions to the power fantasy.. you didn't like number 1 or 3 on this list which is why you don't enjoy the anime that much, at least what has happened so far, because this is what the majority of the anime is, for example whenever Rimuru does something crazy or powerful, the people around him are amazed, and for some reason that amazement makes me extremely happy and satisfied 4. A mix of light and dark at random points.. this is something that's unique to Slime, there are anime like One Piece where it starts lighter, then goes darker as the story progresses, and there's anime like Re:Zero where it's dark all the way through, with this one though, it's harder to predict where it's heading because it could be happy go lucky and then a dark flash-back hits, like Shizu's.. but that's a worse example then what's going to go down in season 2, so I suggest you to keep watching P.S. Tensura is the only anime that I've actually went and read all the light novels for because I was that interested after season 2 ended
