Johnny is right about the mc lacking a real goal but he isnt really trying to clear his name rather hes trying to survive the waves and go home. Clearing his name is more a side goal that comes along as he fights the waves. Raphtalia’s goal is definitely the long term objective. The MC though is pretty respectable, he cant trust anyone but still helps them and how he gave raphtalia a purpose and a will to fight is cool as well. Good beginning I would say, pretty slow but sorry to say but this is the pacing of the whole show. Get ready for lots of cool stuff though.

Of course the protagonist doesn't have a back story. There's literally no point for this story to be an isekai, the purpose is for him to be a self-insert character for the average emo normie to feel "woe-is-me" "I'm so misunderstood" "if I'm in this world I would treat the cute raccoon girl well" power fantasy. But don't you dare drop this show. It's all downhill from this point and I'm all here for the suffering of watching this inane trainwreck.

Not alllll downhill just like 5 boring episodes chill. I cant believe people dislike it this much. Maybe the next character downgrades the show a smidge tho
