Another plot hole I’ve seen brought up is how in The last air bender animals were the original benders, they explained bison, dragons, badger moles and also the moon taught the 4 elements so how did the animals have bending if the lion turtles only gave bending to humans?

Jerry Ferrell

I think that’s the big one but I don’t see it as a plot hole because they’re referred to as the original benders. The two parter points out that the element itself is the power while bending is the art of controlling it and developing the way it can be used. There was a huge difference between when we saw Wan randomly firing at the chus and when he was practicing with the dragon. Though the spirit one is a good point. My best guess on that one is that land bound spirits are different and are tied to he physical and spirit worlds.

Yeah guys it isnt a plot hole. Thats a misconception. The lion turtles gave the ability, but then the people learned the proper way to use the elements from the animals. Like how Wan became the first Firebender by learning from the dragons.

The badgermoles, air bison, dragons and the moon are sort of the teachers of bending while the lion turtles were the source. I like to believe at some point in the past the animals were presented with the element by the lion turtles, so that’s a possible explanation to why they can bend. I guess a bigger plot hole is this. When Aang visited the spirit world in ATLA, it wasn’t a different place. It was the same world but like in a different plane. So aang was able to see Katara and the rest of the folks but they weren’t. While in TLoK the spirit world is a separate place altogether.

I think that was true the first time he went to the spirit world but when he was in the North Pole and entered the spirit world, he ended up in a swampy area.

So, the "plothole" was already explained by everyone else. I just wanna say a fun fact, the battle field that Wan dies on is the same place that Zuko walks through in the episode "Zuko Alone."
